Archos 9 “PC Tablet” Runs Windows 7

This is the new flagship product for Archos, the 9 PC Tablet and it will come out packing a Windows 7 OS. It has an 8.9-inch touchscreen and is powered by a 1.2Ghz Atom Z515 processor and has DVB-T. This isn’t really a departure from the original Archos devices like the Gen5 WiFi series except the obvious improvements on the processor and OS side. We also have ample warning about the Archos 9. Earlier this year, Archos has announced its interest in the MID or UMPC market and of course the Archos event today has been previously announced. We don’t know much about the product yet but the 80GB storage seems a little small. Price is pegged at 450 euros.

E3 2009 - Alienware M17x Laptop

While at E3 Expo this last week I got a hands-on with Alienware’s newest addition to the family: the M17x. What does this laptop have to offer hardcore and casual PC gamers? Well the form of this sleek piece of equipment is impressive. With a customizable LED keyboard, illuminated front speakers and a redesigned shell, the M17x falls just short of artwork. But is this truly necessary for those of us who are just in it for the sheer power needed for gaming? Find out all about this new computer and my take on it after the jump.

Sprint HTC Snap Coming To Radio Shack Tomorrow?

We have seen some early reviews of the Sprint HTC Snap. Though not very positive, it probably does indicate that the device is set to launch pretty soon.

To add support to this, Engadget has been tipped of to the launch of the device on the 12th June at RadioShack for $149 on contract. Given the lack of other Windows Mobile Standard devices on the CDMA network, if that is the way you roll this may be your only choice.

Video: dmedia M0 gets the hands-on treatment

This little devil here's been bouncing around in some form or another for nearly a year, and now it looks like dmedia's M0 might actually see the light of day sometime soon. The video shows the 4.3-inch touchscreen device running Windows CE and sporting the specs that we'd been clued into many months ago, including: Samsung 533-800MHz CPU, 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, and a 5-megapixel camera. No word yet on a price or Stateside release, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled. Video after the break.

Why The $99 iPhone 3G Changes Everything

Apple just dropped a lot of news on us–new MacBooks with ultra-long battery life; a smarter, faster OS; and new iPhone software and a brand-new iPhone 3G S–but I don’t think anything will have a larger impact than the massive price drop on the iPhone 3G. It instantly changes the game for Apple’s competitors, and it will make devices that are not smart phones nearly irrelevant on AT&T’s network.

Just look at AT&T’s lineup right now. As of yesterday, the Nokia E71x was the best $99 smart phone available for the carrier. And while it’s still compelling, a lot of buyers will now gravitate towards the $99 iPhone.

iPhone 3G S New Features And Specs

Today at its World Wide Developer’s Conference, Apple launched the latest iPhone, the 3G S. There was a lot to take in today, including both improvements on the hardware and software side of this popular smart phone. To break it all down real quick, here’s a look at the 3G S’ specs.

It measures the same 4.5 x 2.4 x .5 inches and maintains the same glossy exterior, but its screen now has a protective anti-fingerprint gloss.

Intel’s Next Generation Of MIDs Looking More And More iPhone Like

Last week after Intel’s Ultra Moblie session at Computex, I attended a intimate Q+A session with Intel’s senior vice president of Intel’s ultra mobility group Anand Chandrasekher about Intel’s Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). (If you are interested in seeing parts of the session you can watch the video below shot by our friend JKKMobile.)

Chandrasekher held his BlackBerry Curve during the duration of the meeting and interestingly placed on the back of the phone was an Intel Atom sticker. Now, that phone absolutely didn’t have an Intel Atom processor (of any family) inside it (we are not in the business of starting rumors!), but the smartphone was a symbol of where Intel is clearly heading with its next generation Moorestown platform for MIDs.

Archos 3 PMP Looks Like Teclast M26

Just like the Archos 2 PMP, the Archos 3 looks like an OEM design and has a lot of unmistakable similarities with the Teclast M26. The Archos 3 has a 3-inch touchscreen and 8GB of storage, going for a very reasonable 100 euros or about $141. It has a relatively simple touchscreen UI compared to the Archos 5 and 7 and the Gen5 touchscreen PMPs called “virtual wheel.” There’s an FM tuner, audio recorder, clock and FM tuner.

Digits-On With Verizon Wireless’ New Full QWERTY Motorola Rival

Motorola and Verizon Wireless announced the Rival this morning, a $99 messaging device that’s available in purple/black or red/white and is targeted at teenagers. At its pricepoint, it’s going to compete directly with the LG enV3 and the enV Touch, two phones that launched on Verizon Wireless last week. But it might not be other messaging phones that Motorola has to worry about.

As Mark Spoonauer noted yesterday, Apple is really going to flip this messaging phone market on its head and we’re just starting to see that happen. I hate to make the comparison here, but since yesterday I really have to, seeing that the Rival costs just as much as the iPhone 3G. Most consider Verizon Wireless’ network to be better than AT&Ts, but why not go with a phone that has thousands of apps available and one that can serve as a full-blown media device?
