Shuttle X Vision X50 Ultra-Slim All-In-One PC

Shuttle have released their new ultra-slim all-in-one PC this week. It is named the X Vision X50 and has a 15.6 inch LCD touchscreen built in. The screen can be worked with the included stylus pen. It comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory as well as an Intel Atom 330 Dual-core processor. Those specs allow it to run either Windows XP
or Windows Vista. A 160GB SATAII HDD is included that provides plenty of storage space and a 4 in 1 memory card reader is also included allowing you to quickly transfer camera photos to your PC.

The X Vision X50 has wireless built in that is 802.11n allowing for quick network speeds if you have the right equipment at home. 5.1 HD Audio is included and the PC has 2×2W speakers built in as well as a microphone and webcam allowing for video conferencing over software such as Skype.

Queen Of England Gets A Gold Plated Wii

THQ, the games company, have apparently presented the Queen of England with her very own Gold Plated Nintendo Wii. The Wii has been specially commissioned just for the Royal Family for the launch of their latest game named BIG Family Games. As well as getting a gold plated Wii the queen also received one of the first copies of the game.

BIG Family Games is designed for all ages and features 24 unique games that are all from classic ranges such as tennis, golf, lawn darts, horseshoes and more. We thought that Her Majesty the Queen wouldn’t want to play on any old console, so an extra-special gold one was commissioned. We hope that she and the rest of the Royal Family enjoy the game!

New HDMI Specifications Released

Details of the latest HDMI specifications have been released. The specifications numbered 1.4 indicate that Ethernet support for multiple devices will now be available. This networking capability will allow upstream audio connections as well as bi-directional communication for those connected devices.

“The HDMI Ethernet Channel will allow an Internet-enabled HDMI device to share its connection with other HDMI devices without the need for a separate Ethernet cable. The new feature will also provide the connection platform to allow HDMI-enabled devices to share content between devices,”

Intel Launches Core 2 Duo T9900, P9700, P8800, ULV Pentium SU2700

Intel has announced four new laptop processors - the high-performance Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, P9700, and P8800, and the ultra-low voltage Pentium SU2700. The Core 2 Duo T9900, with a TDP of 35 Watts, runs at 3.06GHz and has 6MB of L2 cache, whereas the 25W P9700 and P8800 are clocked at 2.83GHz and 2.66GHz respectively. The P9700 has 6MB of L2 cache, while the P8800 has 3MB. All three CPUs have 1066MHz front side bus and are designed for use in standard-sized Centrino 2 notebooks.

On the other side, the new ULV Intel Pentium SU2700 single-core processor, with a 10W TDP, will be used in affordable ultra-thin laptops. The SU2700 features a core clock speed of 1.3GHz, 2MB of L2 cache, and a 800MHz FSB.

Acer Aspire AS5810 Timeline 15.6″ Laptop Now Available

The Acer Aspire AS5810 “Timeline“, a newly designed and affordable 15.6-inch notebook, is now available for purchase in the United States. Wal-Mart offers the AS5810-4657 with the new Intel Pentium SU2700 ultra low voltage CPU at 1.3GHz and the Intel GS45 chipset with the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics. The laptop includes 3GB of DDR3 memory, a 320GB hard drive, and a DVD burner. Its LED-backlight display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

Acer’s Timeline 15.6-incher sports a built-in web camera, Dolby Sound Room technology, a multi-gesture touchpad, 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi, a Gigabit LAN port, HDMI output, four USB ports, and a 5-in-1 media card reader,The product description says the 5.3-pound notebook can provide more than 8 hours of run time with its 6-cell battery.

AMD To Take On Intel’s Atom CPU

AMD is planning an Intel Atom-smasher for netbooks, meaning a CPU of their own to take on Intel’s Atom processor in the notebook market. Yep, notebook, not netbook. AMD CEO Dirk Meyer, believes netbooks are a fad and the term will disappear.

It will be everything the Intel Atom wants to be: It will be cheaper, consume less power, be smaller in size and offer more functionality. Samples are going to be readied to partners next year sometime. AMD is not too worried about competition. They don’t see ARM based platforms taking off (ie. Smartbooks) because of lack of software support (for Linux).

CrunchPad Prototype Released

TechCrunch have been working on the CrunchPad for a few months now and have recently unveiled the latest prototype which is a significant step in to this device actually making it to production. The CrunchPad is a Linux powered device that boots right in to a web browser. TechCrunch describe the goal as follows…

…a very thin and light touch screen computer, sans physical keyboard, that has no hard drive and boots directly to a browser to surf the web. The operating system exists solely to handle the hardware drivers and run the browser and associated applications. That’s it.

Palm Pre Gets WebOS 1.0.2 Upgrade

The Palm Pre was launched this past weekend and new owners have been surprised to see that when the phone was switched on that an OTA (over the air) update to webOS 1.0.2 was ready for download. The update is a last minute release which is 67 meg in size and is ready to download over Sprint’s EVDO network.

New features in this small upgrade make the OS more stable as well as including a new alarm clock. The stability issues were found in some review units which apparently reset themselves wiping the phone clean and restoring from the Palm Pre original backup which isn’t good. Luckily as the phone does OTA upgrades it’s a simple fix if you have witnessed the problems.

HP Mini 1101 Netbook Overview

Hewlett Packard has recently unveiled the HP Mini 1101, a new 10.1-inch netbook for business users. The Mini 1101, based on Intel’s Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU and 945GSE chipset, comes with 1GB or 2GB of DDR2 memory, up to 250GB of hard drive space or a 32GB solid state drive, and a 3- or 6-cell battery. The netbook with Windows XP Home preinstalled supports up to 1GB of RAM, whereas Windows Vista Business-based systems support up to 2GB.

Its 10.1? LED backlight anti-glare display has a resolution of 1024×576 pixels. HP’s Mini 1101 sports a 92% full size keyboard, stereo speakers, a webcam, 802.11b/g WiFi, an LAN port, optional mobile broadband connection, three USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and a VGA output.

AT&T On iPhone 3G/3G S Tethering, MMS, Availability, Etc.

We’re trying to get through all of this Apple iPhone related news as fast as possible so just bear with us. To start, AT&T will offer tethering, but there’s no official announcement on that just yet.On the MMS front, AT&T will offer MMS on the iPhone 3G S later this summer once system upgrades have been completed. These upgrades are unrelated to the 3G network, says AT&T.

If you’re itching to get the iPhone 3G today then you’ll have to wait until 5PM ET to pick up the $99 8GB model. You can pick up a 16GB 3G model for $149 while supplies last. Data plans for the iPhone remain the same as before. No changes regardless of which model you end up purchasing. Sucks for anyone who just got a 3G and want to upgrade because it’s going to cost a pretty penny, but there’s “early upgrade” pricing as well.
