HTC Snap reviewed: QWERTY keyboard, Winmo 6.1, no great shakes

We know you've been dying to get your hands all over the HTC Snap... oh, wait. You haven't? Well, neither have we -- but no matter, 'cos Smartphone Daily has a review, and they've filled us in on the luscious deets. For the uninitiated, this is a 2.4-inch, Windows Mobile 6.1, touchscreen deficient candybar, and something of a BlackBerry doppleganger (if only in the looks department), featuring WiFi and a camera. Wild, huh? Overall, the reviewer found it to be "decent" -- if you're looking for a "business device," that is. The Inner Circle feature was singled out for some praise: little more than an Inbox filter for your, erm, "inner circle," you have to wonder why a manufacturer hadn't thought of it before. On the downside, he did find the inclusion of a TAB key (where the A key belongs) to be particularly annoying. This bad boy will go on sale this summer in Europe, at which time the S522 (as it's known 'round here) should hit the shops Stateside. One more pic after the break.

Apple Xserve Review

Since Intel launched its latest Xeon 5500 family of server processors at the end of March Apple hasn’t wasted any time joining the ‘Nehalem’ club and in this exclusive review we bring you a first look at its latest Xserve, which comes equipped with the new Xeons.

When we previously looked at the Xserve we observed that Apple’s switch from PowerPC to Xeon processors was relatively painless and made swifter by the fact that it didn’t have to redesign the 1U chassis. This still holds true for the latest Xserve as absolutely nothing has changed, but then there’s no real need to as it’s still one of the best built chassis on the market.

Acer's 11.6-inch Aspire One gets a spec list, release date

We've already gotten a good look at Acer's new 11.6-inch Aspire One netbook, and even gotten word of some of the specs, but it looks like Acer has now removed any last bit of mystery on its German website, where it has finally let loose a complete spec list. Now officially dubbed the Aspire One 751, the netbook packs an Atom Z520 processor (as opposed to the Z530 that was initially rumored), along with up to 2GB of RAM, built-in Bluetooth, your choice of three or six-cell batteries, optional 3G, and a 1366x768 resolution on that 11.6-inch display -- not to mention your choice of XP or Vista. Still no official word on a release 'round here, unfortunately, but it looks like it'll be hitting at least some parts of Europe later this month for just over $500.

It’s set to be a tough year for smartphones, and there’s plenty of change afoot as companies battle amid tightening customer purse-strings. Next PSP to rely on Memory Stick HG-Micro for storage?

You can be sure this won't be the last PSP rumor to surface before E3, but the word going around now is that the so-called PSP Go! (or PSP2, or PSP Slide...) won't rely primarily on some internal memory for storage as previously speculated, but on something like Sony's new Memory Stick HG-Micro format, which is about 40MB/s faster than a standard Memory Stick Duo card. That word apparently comes from some "sources close to PSP development" that have spoken to PC World's Game On blog, who seem to also be suggesting that the Memory Sticks would effectively replace UMDs as a game delivery format, and not simply be used for downloaded games and whatnot. All of which certainly seems reasonable enough, even if it's still far from being anywhere close to official.
