Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet Review

Although many of us enjoy high tech devices, there are times when we still get pleasure from going back to traditional methodology. We may type on the keyboard all day, but still find comfort in writing or drawing with a pencil and paper. Old methodology, like pencil and paper, also can offer better control than a keyboard and mouse. The Wacom Bamboo pen-tablet brings the best of both worlds together. It marries the new and the old by attaching a pen-and-tablet interface to the computer. Yet while this tablet mimics pencil and paper, it is really very high tech.

X58 for the Masses: Gigabyte's EX58-UD3R & EX58-UD4P Review

Many positive commentaries have been written about Intel's current flagship Core i7 processors and its companion X58 Express chipset, due to the solid performance gains offered by the platform. In addition to the increased performance offered by Core i7 processors though, the X58 chipset also brings with it native support for ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technologies--provided support is available in the BIOS--as well as support for the flexible triple channel memory controller integrated into the Core i7. What might be concerning for some, however, is the overall cost of putting together all of the components we just mentioned.

OCZ Eclipse laser gaming mouse Review

We got our first look at an OCZ produced mouse back in November of last year, when we took the slightly embarrassingly named Dominatrix for a spin (Note to readers: Don't use the phrase "I took a Dominatrix for a spin" near your significant other. Or your parents for that matter). Despite that off-putting moniker, what we ended up with was a really enjoyable mouse to use - Its large size may have put off some, but for me and my man-hands it made for a comfortable device with some nice features in terms of both selecting DPI settings and choosing the weight of the mouse via a set of removable weights.

Samsung Omnia HD Is Still Omnia HD In Italy. Promoted With X-Men Origins - Wolverine

Well, it looks like the whole “Samsung dropping Omnia HD name” story was a bit overblown.

Yes, it is true that Symbian based Omnia HD will be marketed as i8910 HD in some countries, in order not to confuse it with original Samsung Omnia that runs on Windows mobile. But Netherlands is the only country that we have some sort of confirmation about the drop of Omnia name so far. But we do not know which countries are affected by this.

However, we can now safely confirm that Samsung Omnia HD is keeping the ”Omnia” part of it’s name in Italy. Where Samsung is co-promoting the Omnia HD handset with a special launch event of X-Men Origins:Wolverine.

Kitten Used To Promote MP4 Player

We’ve seen some wacky ideas when it comes to promoting a new product. Microsoft uses 5 year old kids, Cadbury’s a man in a gorilla suit, heck we’ve even been thrown out of a plane to let us experience the same speed and excitement that you get using a state of the art graphics card.

But never have we seen a cute little fuffy kitten used to pedal some tech, until now that is. Why has this cat been used to promote an MP4 player? Why is it standing up? Why does it look dazed and confused? We have no idea.

Apple Offers 20-Inch Aluminum Imacs To Schools

Apple has announced new plans to offer 20-inch aluminum iMac systems to qualified educational institutions, according to AppleInsider. Schools previously could purchase the 17-inch white iMac. The new machines offer a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of memory, 160GB hard drive, 8x DVD burner and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics acceleration.

The plastic 17-inch variant was introduced in 2006, although the availability was recently limited to school purchases. While the public offerings switched to the 20- and 24-inch sizes, the less-expensive model was said to persist because of the economic recession.

Sandforce Controller Promises Significant SSD Boost

Storage specialists SandForce has released a new set of SSD Processors, dubbed the SF-1000, which it claims can significantly boost the performance of solid state drives. Geared towards the upper end of the market - the same that the Intel X25 aims at - the new SSD processors will allow cheaper, mass produced NAND MLC Flash memory to be used in Data Centres and other corporate segments, decreasing price per GB and allowing performance to reach up to 250MBps on sustained reads and writes, amongst the fastest on the market.

Using so called MLC (Multi Layer Cell) NAND Flash rather than the more expensive SLC (Single Layer Cell) will have a significant impact on prices, with some estimating it could cut prices by up to 75 percent. Central to SandForce’s performance claims is a set of Flash management features called DuraClass which SandForce says, differentiates it from standard Flash controllers like JMicron and others. Durawrite, it says, optimises the number of program cycles, effectiely extending the life of SSDs and data retention, reducing performance degradation and improving data integrity.
