Acer Aspire One’s 10-Inch 4400mah Battery Disappoints

Acer Aspire One 10-inch netbook tested with normal 2200mAh battery Netbooks are extremely popular right now and their popularity only continues to grow. Acer has the most popular netbook on the market with its 9-inch Aspire One. The machine is the top selling netbook right now and to keep that top spot, Acer is coming out with a new netbook with a larger screen.
The Acer Aspire One 10-inch offers a larger screen than the original that should be more popular than the original 9-inch version. When the first batch of 10-inch Aspire One’s went out, Acer reported that a battery issue had been discovered. Unlike most battery issues which mean the system is either going to burst into flames or won’t run as long as promised, this battery error was in the user’s favor.

ASUS Slaps 1TB SSD Within Lamborghini VX5 Laptop

We’re just now wrapping our heads around that 1TB SSD that pureSilicon launched in January, and already ASUS is looking to place us back in a state of disbelief with its newfangled Lamborghini VX5 laptop. Said machine, which is slated to debut tomorrow alongside a litany of other products here in Hannover, will sport a 1TB SSD, a Core 2 Quad CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 16-inch “Full HD” display. You’ll also find a GeForce GT 130M graphics card with 1GB of GDDR3 memory, an illuminated “chiclet” style keyboard and a Blu-ray optical drive to boot. Needless to say, this one’s aimed at those not fazed by stratospheric price tags, and we’re saying that well before the MSRP has been made public. Call it a hunch… or just superb deductive reasoning.

LG Not Abandoning Plasma TVs

LG UK Marketing Manager for Digital Displays, George Mead, has countered rumours arising from comments by an LG executive that the company might be planning a withdrawal from the plasma market.
Lee Gyu-hong, president of LG Electronics Japan, had commented that the company might consider dropping plasmas to aid profitability in the current weak financial climate. Mead agreed that the plasma market has been somewhat shaken up recently - largely owing to Pioneer’s decision to abandon it - saying: “We appreciate that the global market for plasma TVs is undergoing some major changes which are, of course, being discussed at LG’s global headquarters.”

Palit GeForce GTX 260 Sonic 216SP 55nm Graphics Card Review

The latest incarnation of the GTX 260 not only packs the upgraded 216 stream processors, but it also carries with it a 55nm core. What this means is that the card can run cooler, which in turn means it can run faster. While NVIDIA chose not to do anything with the clocks of the card, it doesn’t mean companies out there won’t!
Today we’re looking at the Palit GTX 260 Sonic 216SP. The Sonic means the card is overclocked and the 216SP means that we have the upgraded stream processors. This is our first 55nm GTX 260, but I think we’ve picked out a good one.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Lune Retrograde Watch

The last few years have seen watch maker Maurice Lacroix experiment with creating that perfect design which lies smack in the middle between classic watches (looks from makes such as Breguet) and refined futurism. It is up for debate whether they have achieved this effort, but the Masterpiece Lune Retrograde is certainly a step in the right direction. Alas, you’ll see classic elements made modern. Liberal use of sharp angles and skeletonization replace traditional decorations such as dial engraving gently sweeping edges.
I can’t wait to see this 46 mm monster in action. Very few “classy” watch are born in this diameter. The new in-house made ML 152 movement, offers some useful complications. Included are a calendar with the date and day, moon phase under a textured semi-transparent material, power reserve indicator, and time (of course). The little touches on the watch are what make it standout.

Navigon Announces Rand Mcnally-Powered 4300t Max And 7300t Nav Units, Less Awesome 3300 Max

Looks like Navigon’s new relationship with Rand McNally is starting to bear fruit — the company just announced two new GPS units preloaded with McNally Scenic Routes. Both the 4300T max and the 7300T have over 250 pre-programmed routes from Rand McNally’s Best of the Road series, sorted into categories like “weekend getaways” and “regional trips.” The $279 4300 max (pictured) is the more basic of the two, featuring a 4.3-inch 16:9 touchscreen display, 2GB of storage with microSD expansion, Bluetooth, free traffic updates, and the new MyRoutes personalized routing system, while the $399 7300T repackages all that into a slicker “frameless” case and adds in voice-enabled address entry and control. Navigon will only say Q2 for the 7300T, but the 4300T max is due to arrive on March 9 along with the identical but stripped-down 3300, which drops Bluetooth, traffic, and Rand McNally content to get the price down to $199. Check a pic of the 7300T after the break.

Sony Outs BDP-S360 And BDP-S560 Blu-Ray Players, New BD Htibs

Hope you didn’t just pull the trigger on a BDP-S350, ’cause we get the feeling Sony’s two newest standalone BD decks are going to make you yearn for the next best thing. Here in Las Vegas, the company has just come clean with the Profile 2.0 BDP-S360 and BDP-S560, the latter of which includes integrated WiFi for tapping into BD-Live content and downloading future firmware updates sans an Ethernet cable. Also, the unit is fully DLNA-ready, handles DVD upscaling, bit-streams audio via HDMI, decodes Dolby TrueHD / DTS-HD Master Audio and plays nice with external media loaded up on a USB drive. As predicted, the lower-end BDP-S360 is essentially the same player sans WiFi.
Moving on, we’ve got a new pair of 5.1-channel Blu-ray HTIB systems: the BDV-E300 and BDV-E500W. Both bundles include a BD-Live-capable (Profile 2.0) Blu-ray player, while the BDV-E500W sports integrated S-AIR wireless audio capabilities. In other words, your rear speakers will get their signal sans cabling, and those who opt for the BDV-E300 are getting a kit that’s S-AIR-ready, meaning that you can add modules in the future to get the same wireless support.

Samsung’s Hybrid Nx Series Camera: Point-And-Shoot With Dslr-Like Image Sensor

While we still prefer the Micro Four Thirds approach (we love lens selection, so sue us), Samsung’s conceptual NX Series is still looking pretty boss for those needing a true (or close to true) point-and-shoot frame. Announced here at PMA, this new “hybrid” camera maintains the slim stature of a standard pocket cam, yet includes an APS-C sized image sensor that is traditionally found on DSLRs. In layman’s terms, that means this camera will boast a larger surface area “to gather light and produce higher-quality images than comparable digital camera systems.” In order to keep things thin, the electronic viewfinder (EVF) replaces the DSLR mirror box, but details beyond that are scant. The good news, however, is that Sammy plans to commercialize the NX line and have ‘em shipping by the second half of this year. Is the P&S-DSLR gap finally being bridged? Guess we’ll find out (not so) soon enough; per usual, the full release is just after the break.
