LG UK Marketing Manager for Digital Displays, George Mead, has countered rumours arising from comments by an LG executive that the company might be planning a withdrawal from the plasma market.
Lee Gyu-hong, president of LG Electronics Japan, had commented that the company might consider dropping plasmas to aid profitability in the current weak financial climate. Mead agreed that the plasma market has been somewhat shaken up recently - largely owing to Pioneer’s decision to abandon it - saying: “We appreciate that the global market for plasma TVs is undergoing some major changes which are, of course, being discussed at LG’s global headquarters.”
