New Off-Screen Halo Wars Footage

GameTrailers has posted some new footage of Halo Wars from CES. Unfortunately, it’s off-screen footage, and portions of the screen are cut off. Still, There’s plenty of interesting things to see if you know where to look. For one, you can see the system that lets you cycle through each individual unit type when you’ve selected a large group of different units — the player uses it at around 0:35 to select the Warthog and ram the enemy.

Wired2Fire - Hellspawn Xtreme Review

Intel’s latest Core i7 range of CPUs offers plenty of performance straight out of the box, never mind about overclocking. However, the one thing they do excel at is being tweaked to run faster than standard without resorting to fancy water-cooling or even more exotic cooling methods.
You may not have heard of Wired2Fire before, but the Dorking, Surrey based system builders have been making some well built and quick PCs since 2004. The i7-powered Hellspawn Xtreme carries on that tradition and, although it comes with an eye-watering price tag (over three grand just for the system box), you do get one of the fastest desktop PCs available anywhere at the time of writing.

CoolIT Domino A.L.C. Review

CoolIT Domino A.L.C.CoolIT is a USA based company that started doing their cooling business a couple of years ago and instantly they became a hit. They introduced a very niche TEC (peltier) cooling product unto the market that made many of us scratched behind their ears. Niche often also mean high-end and thus expensive. With the product that they recently launched, that’s just not case anymore.

Motorola - Motozine ZN5 Review

The Motorola Motozine ZN5 is a phone that’s very much focused on its photographic capabilities. Featuring a 5-megapixel camera with Kodak Perfect Touch technology, it includes a sliding lens cover on the back of the camera phone that sets the camera into instant operation when it’s slid downwards.
The ZN5 is a pretty large device, measuring 50.5mm x 118mm x 12mm, and unfortunately doesn’t look particularly inspiring or sophisticated. With a flat keypad the phone manages to pull off its large dimensions without looking too chunky and there’s no denying it has a durable, rugged feel about it.

Palm Centro 2 With Webos Launching Immediately After Pre?

The Palm Pre was one of the stars of CES last week, and it seems Palm wants to keep the momentum going. The latest rumours are we’ll see more phones running its WebOS immediately after the Pre is release, including an all new Palm Centro 2.
The original Centro did well for Palm in the US, but failed to make as much impact in the UK. It makes sense for it to be blessed with the whizzy new WebOS too, since it would put the new interface infront of more customers, and build a sturdy base for developers to release WebOS apps. But launching it immediately after the Pre seems self destructive to us.
Citing “a seemingly reliable firsthand source,” Palm Infocenter is claiming the Centro 2 will launch this autumn, looking similar to its predecessor and being sold exclusively on Sprint in the US.

Lenovo - IdeaPad S10e Review

After Dell finally launched its netbook, the Mini 9, there was still one major manufacturer’s netbook that some people were waiting to get their hands on: the one promised from Lenovo.
Well, the wait is over, as it’s finally made its appearance in the form of the IdeaPad S10e, a well designed netbook with a decent feature set and a competitive price tag, the only downside being the battery life from the 3-cell battery.
You can tell straight away which family of notebooks it’s related to, as the squared-off design,
measuring 25 x 18.3 x 2.8cm, makes it look and feel like a ThinkPad that’s been shrunk in the wash, which to many people makes it a winner from the start. But being a netbook it’s not only available in the familiar black, it comes in red and white as well.

Nexus FLC-3000 Universal CPU Cooler Review

Nexus has sent us a couple of coolers in this category of compact cooling solutions before, namely the Nexus XiR 3500 copper and the XiR 2300 aluminum coolers. Nexus is based off the concept that there is a real need to lower the ambient noise of a PC to make it more enjoyable to be around. This philosophy stands to serve them well as more users are putting HTPC’s in rooms where noise just isn’t wanted, let alone the idea of giving the ears of everyday users a break.

NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 295 Overclocked Review

As fun as overclocking is, it does manage to take up a fair bit of time. But every once and a while a product will come along that we feel really deserves a good amount of time put into it to find those perfect clock speeds.
Last year it was the Q6600; we wanted to get it to 4GHz and we did. We also had that lovely new i7 CPU known as the 920 which overclocks so well. This year we’re getting into it early, though, thanks to NVIDIA. The GTX 295 is to date the fastest single graphics card you can purchase. We found this out when reviewing the Gainward card earlier today.

We’ve been hearing an awful lot about NVIDIA’s Ion platform, but up until now, we haven’t seen an awful lot. HotHardware and PC Perspective were both able to swing by NVIDIA’s booth at CES and get an up close look at the diminutive system. On hand was a half-liter PC that utilized a 1.6GHz Atom 330 CPU and NVIDIA’s GeForce 9400M GPU, and it was reportedly being used to push some pretty stellar video on the monitors behind it.
