Mini PC Is Designed For Medical Use

According to Advantech, the fanless PIN-M106 is suitable for use even in operating rooms, because its IPX1-rated enclosure resists drips and may readily be sanitized with cleaning agents. In addition, the device is said to have UL60601-1/EN60601-1 certifications, plus isolated COM and LAN ports that protect against electrical leakage.

Rather than using Intel’s popular Atom processor, the PIN-M106 employs the chipmaker’s Celeron M ULV, clocked at 1.06GHz and backed by the 945GME northbridge and ICH7M southbridge. The device’s two SODIMM sockets accept up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, says Advantech.

For mass storage, the PIN-M106 accommodates a single 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drive, and is also available with an optional flash module of unspecified capacity. Internally, the device also has Mini PCI and Mini PCI express expansion slots, according to the company.
