Sonos CR200 Remote Comes With Touch Screen

The Sonos C100 which costs $400 did not have a touch screen. The cousin, CR200 comes with a touch screen but why do I have this feeling that it is a bit late now. But whatever it is, its Sonos fault anyway. Come on I can’t take the blame can I? well we don’t have any price or specifications for this yet but it is surely going to be tough competing as an add-on product especially if it is priced above the $229 baseline iPod Touch.

Acer's X960 Windows Mobile smartphone

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Acer recently entered into the smartphone marketplace with a handful of new devices, thanks to its purchase of E-TEN. The X960 is one of these devices, and we’ve got hold of one to put it through its paces. Read on to find out what we think of the X960 in this hands-on review.

At 106mm x 59mm x 14mm (4.2in x 2.3in x .6in), the Acer X960 isn’t the smallest phone on the market, but is still easy to throw in a pocket. The front features a 2.8″ resistive touchscreen(INFO), which is capable of showing 65,000 colors at VGA (640 x 480 pixel) resolution. Sunlight legibility isn’t the best, due to a reflective covering over the display. The rest of the front is clad in shiny black plastic that likes to show up finger prints, as does the display.

Asus P835 Reviewed

WindowsPhoneMix has reviewed the Asus P835, thought to be one of the last Asus smartphones before they joined up with Garmin. This device with its massive 3.5 inch WVGA screen and trackball excited us for a while when we believed it had an 800 Mhz Marvell processor, but unfortunately we were disappointed when Asus chose to go rather backwards and settle for a run of the mill and sluggish Qualcomm version.

On to the device itself WPM found the screen super-sensitive, found the camera quality ad 5 megapixel reasonable, liked the bundled software, such as the built-in WIFI router, but found Asus’s custom today screen overlay pretty but unusable slow. The battery life was however good, especially for a 1100 mAh device, and WPM found the build-quality to be excellent.

Whatever Happened To Velocity Mobile?

MobileWack has reported on new Windows Mobile 7 designs by Velocity Mobile, the Seattle-based company that was set to revolutionize the Windows Mobile world with their over the air auto-updating system.

However when I tried to do some confirmation on their website, I ran into a Bermuda-triangle like void. Their website had disappeared without even a placeholder page. Their flagship device, the Velocity 103 has been discontinued on Expansys. That makes it rather unlikely these devices pictured will ever see the light, and make them about as likely to get real as our Black Slab from yesterday.

Eee PC 1101HA Can Be OverClocked By 32%

Netbook Italia just got their hands on a spunking new Eee PC 1101HA. And guess what they’ve found out? According to Netbook Italia, you can actually overclock the BIOS of the 1101HA up to 32% to make its processor work like a standard Intel Atom N270. In case you may have forgotten, the Eee PC 1101HA only got a slower Atom Z520 1.33GHz for its CPU.

Interestingly, this could probably the reason why the 11.6-inch 1101HA comes with a cooling fan inside. This was probably build in anticipation of users overclocking this netbook later on. Overclocking the BIOS of your Eee PC would have the tendency to run it on hot temperature. So that cooling fan might actually help.
