ASUS 'Seamless Experience' is the best conception of the future

Are you fully prepared to live in one company's most likely inaccurate and yet still totally awesome vision of the future? If not, check out the video after the break. ASUS tossed together its ideas into a "Seamless Experience" showing at its Computex 2009 booth. Apparently the future involves a lot of interactive countertops -- a sort of pervasive Surface-lite, which presents interactive, relevant info for objects placed on it. The tech also facilitates interaction between devices placed near each other, and can even capture data from a plain ol' piece of paper and integrate it into the system. Sure, it's been shown before, but we're sure once enough companies come up with this idea independently they'll be able to form two warring factions and fend off consumer adoption with a format war for years to come.

Goldtouch Go Travel Keyboard Weighs 1lb

I am not sure why Goldtouch wants to relate a worker’s safety to a travel keyboard (probably a blunder marketing strategy), nonetheless the Go travel keyboard for your notebook is worth purchasing. With an astounding weight of a meager 1lb, this can quietly slide into your notebook backpack and trust me, it won’t be a bother, for it is easier to type on such keyboards, especially while traveling. You will not have to keep handling your notebook; instead a free typing platform backed on your regular keyboard will help you keep it in place.

The Goldtouch Go also has the ability to convert from a PC to Mac using simple key combinations. The keys are as good as those found on a 14-inch lappy, so those tiny keys aren’t a part of this iteration. Somehow the “new realities of the mobile workforce” make no sense, barring that, there isn’t a point you can be cautious about.

The Plasma Blowtorch Chars The Plaque, Not Your Teeth

The evolving developments of technology don’t even spare the teeth, but cheerfully, it is for the good of mankind. Researchers from the University of Southern California have succeeded in developing a blowtorch that “blows” plasma to get rid of the plaque on the teeth. Scared that a blowtorch emitting plaque could actually char your teeth? This plaque is just as hot as your room is, thanks to the minuscule level of electricity it requires to ionize the gas in the flame.

Even 10 minutes of exposure to the flame raises the temperature of your tooth by a mere five degrees. The plasma flame is effective in getting rid of the bonded plaque by creating free radical oxygen that even gets cleared by the bacteria. Apparently used as a sterilization device for root canals, it predictably has a lot of other uses in the future.

VAIO P gets whole new lease on life with Atom Z550 processor, SSD and WiMAX

A whole new day is dawning for the never-ever-a-netbook Sony VAIO P -- those new processor and drive upgrades apparently have the little PC churning through benchmarks at twice the pace of the original. Most of the benchmark help comes from the SSD drive, but the Atom Z550 doesn't hurt. Meanwhile, Japan is getting a WiMAX version to churn through stereotypically Japanese websites in record time. We'd be jealous if only we lived under 1,000 miles from the nearest WiMAX signal.

Ninomiya Kun Robot Can Be Your Fairy Tale-Reading Granny!

From being capable personal assistants, to medical aides and even baby sitters, robots are being developed to take care of everything we humans can. A robot that could read out fairy tales to your tots was probably the only one waiting to be developed, and the Japanese have cashed in on the opportunity. The Ninomiya Kun robot developed at Waseda University is capable of reading old fashioned paper printed books and it staged proof of its ability at the robot trade fair in Kitakyushu, by reading fairy tales.

Ninomiya Kun is one meter tall and weighs 25 kilogram, thanks to its aluminum framed body, which manages to keep its weight light. It brings into use a training process whereby the camera eyes comprehend printed materials placed on a special book stand. Character-recognition software (installed in the robot’s backpack) translates the text into verbal material then relayed through a voice synthesizer.
