T-Mobile G1 v2 to be launched in October via Walmart?

Forget a minute about the G2 / myTouch 3G and about the Samsung Houdini, because T-Mobile has yet another Android smartphone up its sleeve, and that’s the T-Mobile G1 v2 – codenamed T-Mobile Bigfoot or T-Mobile Morrison.

Manufactured by HTC (or is it Samsung?), the G1 v2 looks like the nicest Android handset made until now and – guess what – it also has a full sliding QWERTY keyboard.

According to Boy Genius Report, T-Mobile G1 v2 will be launched in the US sometime in October. It should be available via Walmart for $148 with a 2-yr contract agreement, or directly from T-Mobile, for about the same price.

MSI Introduces Syren Line Of Audio Products

MSI is busting out another bag of tricks today, deviating from its usual onslaught of notebooks and graphics cards to offer up a number of audio products. The appropriately named Syren series aims to deliver dream-worthy sound, and at least initially, the family will consist of the SyrenSound X-Fi high-end sound card, the SyrenPhone Gaming headphones and the SyrenSpeaker mini speaker system.

The SyrenSound X-Fi sound card is powered by Creative Audio Processor CA0110, optimized for PCI Express to deliver accelerated audio while supporting X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity Audio technology. Unlike traditional cans, the MSI headphones connect to your PC via a USB port, and there's also a noise-reducing microphone for chatting whilst playing online.

Harman Kardon to launch its first Blu-ray player

Harman Kardon is hardly a newcomer to home entertainment equipment, mostly producing cream-of-the-crop audio systems. Now, they’ve decided to try their hand at manufacturing a Blu-ray player, a first for the company. The player, titled BDP10, will feature Bonus View and BD-Live capabilities enabling users to access extra content for compliant Blu-ray movies via the Internet. It will also include advanced audio codec support and will play back 1080/24p videos without pulldown conversion.

Ironically, the BDP10 won’t support multi-channel analog audio outputs for users to connect the player directly to speakers – it instead depends on digital. Other connections include an HDMI 1.3a with x.v.Color output, component and RCA video outputs, Ethernet, coaxial, optical audio outputs and conventional two-channel analog audio outputs. A front panel USB port will allow users to view DiVX and JPEG-format media.

NZXT Panzerbox All Aluminum Mid Tower Case

Joining the team at TweakTown led me to have to do some traveling with my Antec 900 and the water cooling I had with it as well. With the Antec I saw no nice way to add the radiator inside, so I made legs and let the radiator sit about two inches off the top of the case. Let me tell you, it sure wasn’t built to deal with moving all too well at all. Since those travels to Chris’ house for many long discussions inspired by Bawls energy drinks, and most of my training, I have been searching for a tank of a case that could accommodate my needs. So in my pursuit, I wait with air cooling strapped to my E8600 and hope something comes across my desk that can fill the void.

Portability being my biggest concern, leads me to want to get a mid tower chassis that is light, yet strong, has a good layout and has the option for a completely internal water loop. Since this would also be my work rig that would reside in this, I feel airflow inside the case that can keep Northbridge and Mosfet coolers working well is a must, as I torture my hardware a lot.

Chaintech Announced APOGEE Mars SSD

Walton Chaintech has announced the release of the APOGEE Mars SSD, the solid state drive specifically engineered for hardcore gamers and other high-end users. Chaintech’s research has indicated that there has been a void in the gamers market in terms of mass portable storage, whereby operating systems and system-intensive software can be run seamlessly via an external hard drive. These users Chaintech had in mind when the APOGEE Mars SSD was created.

Standard SSDs have read speeds between 149MB/sec and 163 MB/sec and write speeds between 89MB/sec and 142MB/sec. However, the APOGEE Mars SSD operates with a high end controller chip combined with 512MB Mobile SDRAM which increases read speeds to 250MB/sec and write speeds to 180MB/sec, roughly 50% and 30% faster, respectively. With less than 1ms fast random access times, the APOGEE Mars SSD fulfills all the specifications needed to smoothly run graphic intensive games and applications.

MSI X320 ultralight escapes its box

We've already spent some time ogling over the MSI X-Slim X320 in person, but the ultrathin laptop is starting to ship out in Europe, and these are the first unboxing photos we've come across. Sadly it looks like retail units will be festooned with an nasty array of stickers across the palm rest, but overall it looks like MSI's pulled off a nice little riff on the MacBook Air theme. Two New iRiver Portable Video Players Spotted

Some iRiver watchers think they have spotted the E200 and B30. These models, both are just speculation for now but photographic evidence has us wondering if a refresh of a relatively old model and a relatively new model is coming soon. The iRiver B30 will succeed the B20, which was a PMP and portable TV. No doubt, the B30 will be primarily used as a DMB tuner and will most likely have useful video and music codecs support, FM and who knows a touchscreen and WiFi would really complement the bigger screen. The E200 will follow E100 and E150 budget PMPs. If the one on the lower left is really the E200, I’m curious how that triangular area at the bottom of the screen can be used to improve our viewing pleasure.

Garmin delays Nuvifone G60 yet again, Q3 launch now planned

Hey, remember the Nuvifone? Sure you do -- it's Garmin's entry into the wide world of smartphones. You know, the company's Linux-based, proprietary OS phone that's heavy on GPS integration? Well according to a recent report, plans to launch the device in the first half of 2009 have stalled, with the company stating that it will be pushing the window back towards something closer to Q3. President and COO Cliff Pemble expounded on the difficulties of building a smartphone from scratch during a conference call with analysts, noting "Smartphones are complicated and bringing one to market that's built totally from the ground up on a custom Linux platform is not an easy task."

LG HT32S 2.1-Channel DVD System Review

LG boasts one of the widest selections of all-in-one home cinema systems in the business, offering something for all tastes and budgets. But one thing that unites them all is great value for money, and the HT32S is yet another feature-packed one-box system with a temptingly low price tag. This system also landed on our doorstep shortly after we finished playing with the superb HB354BS one-box Blu-ray package, so understandably our hopes are high.

LG systems usually have dashing good looks, too, and the HT32S is no exception. For the centrepiece DVD/receiver console, LG has come up with yet another distinctive design concept - the curvy table-top unit features a sloping top section and a deep black finish with gentle blue highlights. Stunning.
