Blackberry Storm 9530 Review

iPhone Killer?
The Blackberry Storm 9530, what was for a long while hyped to be the potential iPhone-killer from RIM: beautiful, sleek, the first touch-screen Blackberry, with all the functionality that was deemed lacking in the perfect fruit-phone. As are most things in comparison to Apple products, it lacks the final grooming that a manicured and coiffed showpiece from the Jobsness generally carries, but compared to the HTC devices I've had the Storm takes the cake in nearly every way. From the physical design to navigating, selecting, entering information – I find the device pleasant and easy to use from the get-go.

Linutop 2 Mini PC Review

Even in these times of the diminutive nettop, it's not everyday that a fully working PC measuring a mere 14 x 14 x 3.5cm (5.5 x 5.5 x 1.38in) arrives in the office. With its svelte dimensions and weighing only 562g, the Linutop 2 (yes, there was a Linutop 1) is one little box that truly deserves the tag of 'miniature PC'.

Despite the low weight, Linutop's little box is encased in a relatively thick aluminium shell, giving it build quality only somewhat less impressive than a Sherman tank. Though we didn't test it this time around, the Linutop 2 is another machine you could probably drive a car over and still leave it intact afterwards.

Noctua NH-C12P SE (1366) Review

There comes a time in every reviewers life when they get swamped, it's just part of the process. Recently we got 4 CPU coolers that came in on the same truck. Quite the surprise to say the least. We saved the best for last, the Noctua NH-C12P SE 1366. A cooler that rivals the legendary TRUE 120. We wanted to see just how much it rivals the TRUE 120 on a level playing field so we're going to use the Noctua fans that came with the NH-C12P on the TRUE 120 and put them head to head on the Core i7 965 Extreme and see which one stays on Quadzilla. Searching for the best air cooling alternatives has been a long road and one with no visible end. We're about to switch back to water cooling on the test rig because i7 reviewing has slowed down enough to dip below the insanity level. In the mean time lets get back to the Noctua NH-C12P revisit.

4GB Archos 2 PMP Pops Up

If you’re not too keen on getting a high-capacity MP3 player, Archos has released a 4GB Archos 2 PMP, now available from a European online retailer. The Euro price translates to $53 (39.60 euros), which should go down once it hits Amazon, based on the 8GB Archos 2 they have on offer. Just a little pricier than the screen-less and button-less iPod Shuffle of the same capacity, but not quite a cheap MP3 player in our book.

Sony Alpha 230, 330, and 380 DSLRs leak out a little early

We've been hearing vague murmurs of revised Sony Alpha DSLRs all week, but now we've got some actual proof: these shots of the new Alpha 230, 330, and 380 went up briefly on Sony's Russian website earlier today. The biggest improvements seem to be smaller cases, a revised interface, and HDMI out, but there's also a new "handbook" to help new users get started and a Bravia control mode that allows the camera to be controlled by your TVs remote while it's displaying pictures. A nice enough upgrade, but unless these are somehow super cheap we'd say the omission of a video mode is going keep most people focused on the Nikon D5000 and Canon T1i.
