EVGA X58 Classified Motherboard Review

When everyone is making boards that sport the same chipset, how do you set yourself apart from the crowd? Companies do their best to overcome competition by providing support for next generation technology and additional features. Bigger bundles, better support, and flashy heatsinks usually come into play. EVGA is best known for their Nvidia GPUs but has more recently created mainstream and enthusiast level motherboards that have given rival board makers a run for their money. But now the Brea, California based company created a mobo aimed at the high end, extreme enthusiast market that provides features previously unheard of. The X58 Classified motherboard steps into the ring with the ability to house 3-way SLI + PhysX + 1x PCIe at the same time, two 8-pin 12V connectors, 10 phase Digital PWM, and a nice bundle to get you going.

Fujitsu Delivers a Security Solution for Lost or Stolen Notebook PCs

Remote wipe isn't anything new and is performed today on any Windows Mobile running on a Exchange SP2 network… But there are few high scale solutions for PCs available, mainly due to their lack of networking capabilities, beside Wi-Fi.

This may change at least here in Japan thanks to both Fujitsu and Willcom and their new security solution for lost or stolen laptops… If you' run this application/service on your PC with a PHS data card you can initiate a remote wipe of your PC to avoid important data or your porn collection being leaked.

LG X120 unboxing and hands-on

We got an early look at LG's X120 netbook at CES back in January, but we've now finally gotten our hands on the final retail version, and will be properly putting it through its paces in the coming days. Right off the bat, however, it's clear that the netbook has quite a bit going for it inside and out, including a nice matte white finish all around the exterior (though it's as glossy as ever once you pop the lid), a generally solid build quality, a usable keyboard (although the trackpad is on the small side) and, of course, LG's Splashtop-powered Smart On interface, which once again manages to impress with its speediness, even if you'll still often find yourself reaching for XP. Hit up the gallery below for some unboxing and hands-on pics, and keep an eye out for some more in-depth impressions.

Maingear freshens up F131 gaming desktop

Maingear's latest gaming desktop doesn't arrive with any 3D goggles or fairy dust, but it does boast a nice sheet of specifications and a surely polarizing motif. The relaunched F131 offers gamers quite a lot of options, providing a choice between AMD's Phenom II or Intel's Core i7 and even the ability to shove a trio of ATI Radeon 4890 graphics cards in there for triple-digit frame rates. Deep-pocketed consumers can also get 8TB of HDD space, acoustic dampening technology for whisper quiet operation, Maingear's M.A.R.C. custom laser etching and upwards of 12GB of DDR3 RAM. The newly decorated F131 is up for order now starting at $1,299, but it doesn't take long to push that figure well beyond the two grand mark.

MSI Wind U100 10-inch Netbook Review

Netbooks are the biggest selling category in the computer industry right now for several reasons. The poor global economy is the big reason consumers are flocking to netbooks. I don’t think that is the only reason that netbooks continue to post such massive growth, I think that consumers are finally realizing that they don’t have to use the most powerful notebook available to do the majority of what they need.

With that realization many people shopping for computers are opting to go with the much smaller and more portable netbook machines rather than larger full notebook systems. Another big benefit of the netbook is that the little machines tend to sip power making them last longer away from an outlet.

Sony's OLED Walkman priced in the US... sort of

We wouldn't carve this in stone quite yet, but we'd say that points-to-dollars conversion from Sony's official 'Rewards' site is pretty legitimate. The outfit's highly anticipated OLED Walkman, which we had the pleasure of toying with earlier this week, is now listed in 16GB and 32GB forms at SonyRewards. While no ship date is given, we are told that the smaller of the two will run members 29,995 points, while the larger one demands an extra 10,000. For those who only speak real currency (you know, like Schrute Bucks), that translates to $299.95 and $399.95, respectively. Furthermore, the first official OLED Walkman accessories have popped up, proving that a leather case / kickstand, clear screen protector and a hard plastic shell will be made available. Oh, and Sony -- any moment now would be great for a confirmation.
