SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet to Kill Netbooks with 48-Hour Music Playback

We were mildly impressed when SmartQ 5 PMP-MID was announced. Here at last is a little known brand that has ambition and seems to have the means to make it to the very top. Well, they’re not stopping. The 7-inch WVGA SmartQ 7 is something you have to get excited about. It’s a sleek device with very interesting buttons on the bottom of the screen and on the side, WiFi-enabled of course, running Linux. The 4500mAh is goo enough to play music for 48 continuous hours. If that is true, we got ourselves a netbook killer right here. It’s available in at least three colors. Pending a hands-on review, I’d say it’s one of the more important PMP news this year.

No pricing and availability for the SmartQ 7 just yet. We hope to have more details soon (processor, build material, etc.) as we’re sure our readers will be looking forward for updates.

World Exclusive: MSI N260GTX Lightning Black Edition

Not all graphics cards are equal, they are reference ones and then there are factory-overclocked ones. And even among factory-overclocked ones, not all are equal. The MSI N260 Lightning is the Taiwanese hardware giant's most hardcore card yet, and once you take a look at its feature list and specifications, you'll know why.

Based on the existing GeForce GTX 260 216-core, the MSI N260 Lightning is one of the most focused graphics card we've seen yet. MSI says the N260 Lightning uses only high-end 'military grade' components, which includes ultra long lifespan solid state capacitors, which are claimed to last 20% longer; and top grade high durability Hi-C Caps, which can tolerate 20% higher temperatures.

The company has just announced that its CUDA-based Tesla C1060 GPU is now available in Dell's Precision R5400, T5500 and T7500 workstations. And just to put things into perspective, NVIDIA points out that a Dell workstation rockin' a single Tesla C1060 has enough going on under the hood to power the control system for the European Extremely Large Telescope project ("the world's largest," apparently). According to one of the developers, Jeff Meisel at National Instruments, a workstation "equipped with a single Tesla C1060 can achieve near real-time control of the mirror simulation and controller, which before wouldn't be possible in a single machine without the computational density offered by GPUs.
