XFX First To Use Premium Reference Cooler For 4770

Up until now, all of the Radeon HD 4770's have utilized ATI's cheaper reference cooler for the Radeon HD 4770. XFX will now be the first to shoot for the more expensive premium cooler.

For those that aren't aware, ATI offered partners two different designs for the cooler. All but XFX have chosen the cheaper design, probably to make the card more cost-effective for a card that doesn't make much money to begin with.

XFX has decided to splurge however and not only will they be using the premium cooler, they've chosen the black PCB. It really does seem that once you go black, you never go back.

Samsung Omnia HD i8910 reviewed in the glow of the AMOLED screen

Whether you call it OmniaHD, i8910 HD, or even "Timmy Tim" (hey, it could happen), Samsung's AMOLED--infused smartphone is a winner, if the fine lads at Phone Arena are to be believed. Points go to its HD video recording and playback, a surprisingly good battery life, and a form factor that's not too hard on the pocket, measuring in at just a wee bit taller and thicker than the HTC Touch HD. Not everything's sunshine and rainbows, though, as trying to use it in direct sunlight's a lost cause and the phone is a magnet for fingerprints. Still, those are pretty minor in comparison, and this is sounding more and more like a solid smartphone. Hit up the read link for a more thorough review, or after the break for the moving pictures version.

Samsung Intros 1.5TB STORY External Hard Drive

Generally speaking, we look to companies such as LaCie when scouting a fashion-friendly external hard drive. Evidently Samsung's tired of being left out of the mix, as it has today introduced a 1.5TB solution that has quite a bit of style. The STORY Station is a desktop storage solution "designed to meet the explosive demand for external, secure and eco-friendly desktop PC storage."

The 3.5" external hard drive comes wrapped in a solid aluminum casing and features a trifecta of new safety features to guard against data loss: Samsung Auto Backup, SecretZone and SafetyKey. Samsung Auto Backup backs up data in real time or through a prearranged schedule, while the backed-up data can also be securely saved by setting a password with Samsung’s SafetyKey. In order to protect confidential files and folders, Samsung’s SecretZone creates a virtual drive which provides encryption for data security.

Crossfire vs SLI Performance Comparison Review

As single GPU video cards continue to get faster and deliver even more performance, are dual video card setups still a viable option for those looking for more performance? If one is good, two or more have to be better, right? In most cases two is better than one, and four is better than two; in most cases, not all. It would be nice to slap in another video card and see double the performance, but again that's not always the case. The cards will scale, and in some games you will see tremendous scaling, but in others you will wonder why you even bothered with the additional purchase.

Podio speakered PMP for cyclists sure to cause accidents, impromptu dance parties

We've seen plenty of speaker / PMP combos around these part, but the Podio -- which looks kind of like a hairdryer to us -- is designed for the cyclist on-the-go who just can't bike without jamming to Green Day at a semi-loud volume. The Podio comes with a harness to attach it to the bike's handlebars, and boasts a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that gets somewhere between nine and twenty hours of use per charge. The whole thing weighs 139 grams, boasts 2GB of onboard storage, and has a 1.5 watt speaker to get the party started. There are no details on pricing or availabiity as of now, but we'll let you know when they come around -- err... are on the market. One more photo after the break.
