BlackBerry 9630 to launch as the "Tour"

RIM's leaked BlackBerry 9630 smartphone is likely to be called the "Tour" when it supposedly launches in early summer, reports US blog Boy Genius Report.

In what's pretty much a two plus two equals five scenario, the news comes from a tipster, but is backed up by some decent logic.

Aside from the 9630's "World Edition" tag working with the "Tour" theme, www.blackberry9630.com and www.blackberrytour.com were both registered on the same day, and point to the same IP address.

YOYOTech - Water Dragon 940 Review

Here's a rare beast: an overclocked gaming system that doesn't use an Intel processor but instead uses a watercooled AMD one. But don't let that put you off, as YOYOTech's Water Dragon 940 is a capable, extremely well put together system unit.

It also makes a nice change that the name of a system actually represents what's inside, in this case Water as it's watercooled, Dragon because it‘s based on AMD's Dragon platform and 940 because it's powered by an AMD Phenom II X4 940.

Thermaltake SpinQ Review

CPU coolers - nobody really likes to think about them much. They just sit on top the CPU and keep it from frying. Most end users are happy with the cooler that came with the CPU and have little realization that the Stock CPU cooler really won't do the job of keeping the CPU cool and certainly won't allow for any real overclocking. Look at the facts though. The overclocking community is just a small percentage of end users. Most end users will look at you and say, "Overclocking. I've heard of that." Sad but true. Most people don't overclock and in most cases review sites tend to cater to that community.

NVIDIA's GT300 specs outed -- is this the cGPU we've been waiting for?

NVIDIA's been dabbling in the CPU space behind closed doors for years now, but with Intel finally making a serious push into the GPU realm, it's about time the firm got serious with bringing the goods. BSN has it that the company's next-generation GT300 will be fundamentally different than the GT200 -- in fact, it's being hailed as the "first truly new architecture since SIMD (Single-Instruction Multiple Data) units first appeared in graphical processors." Beyond this, the technobabble runs deep, but the long and short of it is this: NVIDIA could be right on the cusp of delivering a single chip that can handle tasks that were typically separated for the CPU and GPU, and we needn't tell you just how much your life could change should it become a reality. Now, if only NVIDIA would come clean and lift away some of this fog surrounding it (and the rumored GTX 380), that'd be just swell.

Phenom II Buyers Guide - 955BE Edition

As discussed in yesterday's AMD Phenom II 955 launch article, the new 3.2GHz 955 is now the king of the midrange. Intel Core i7 still owns the very top of the performance pyramid, but the 45nm Phenom II is now our CPU of choice for buyers that can't (or won't) move to Intel's LGA-1366. The Phenom II 955 beat the more expensive Intel Q9550 in application performance and in overclocking performance. Today at least the best processor choice for an upper entry to midrange PC is the Phenom II.

That could change with deep Intel price reductions on Core 2 Quad and Duo processors or possibly the coming introduction of Core i5 processors, but AMD's long catch-up strategy is finally starting to pay off in the latest 45nm Phenom II offerings. With the new 955 and 945, and with Phenom II now the CPU of choice where it competes, it is time to revisit Phenom II system components in an update to our last Phenom II System Buyers' Guide.

TwinTech GeForce GTS 250 XT OC 1GB Graphics Card Review

It's been a bit few and far between seeing cards from TwinTech, but today we've got a new one that sits in with their XT series of overclocked cards. The particular model we're looking at today is the GTS 250 XT OC 1GB. Since the GTS 250 is nothing more than a rebranded 9800 GTX+, companies have been able to attack the "new" model quickly and swiftly with modifications in regards to its cooling and clock speeds.

TwinTech in true XT fashion has chosen to mix it up in both the clock speed department and the cooling one, but before we see how the card performs we'll quickly take the time to have a closer look at the cards package before checking out the card itself and the clock speeds it carries with it.

Cowon iAudio D2+ 4GB Review

For a relatively small company, Cowon has developed an awfully big reputation for its MP3 and PMP products. Its S9 is one of the most highly-regarded PMPs out there, while the company has won an enviable following amongst the audiophile crowd for the simple reason that it produces some of the best-sounding digital audio players on the market.

The subject of today's review - the iAudio D2+ - comes with some high expectations. It's the successor to one of Cowon's most popular efforts, the D2 which has, I'm told, sold over 500,000 units worldwide to date. That's chickenfeed for the likes of Apple or Sony, but not at all bad for a Korean brand that most people in the UK won't even have heard of.

Samsung's rumored I7500 set to be its first Android outing?

We dig Android set rumors, even more so when they're mumbling about Samsung's first foray into the land of the Android OS. We'd initially heard Samsung's S8000 Cubic might well be the first Android set launched, but the::unwired's reporting that the Samsung I7500 will be the one to watch. While still all rumor and speculation, the I7500 has a mind numbing pile of features, all of which would guarantee us picking this up no matter what OS it's sporting. Starting with quad-band EDGE, dual-band HSDPA, 8GB of internal storage, a 3.2-inch capacitive OLED display (can we get a wahoo?) 5 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, and even GPS. The I7500 is scheduled rumored to be exclusive on O2 as early as June this year for €300. That, mes amis, is some seriously tasty rumor magic, here's hoping it pans out.
