Toshiba Camileo P30 Camcorder Reviewed

Toshiba’s Camileo P30 is a compact Full HD camcorder. It features a 5 Megapixel image sensor for capturing 1080p Full HD video clips, 5x optical zoom lens and 4x digital zoom. The P30 has a 2.5-inch LCD display and supports microSD/SDHC card slot.

TrustedReviews has test the Camileo P30 and comments: The prospect of 1080p shooting for £150 sounds too good to be true. Unfortunately, in the case of the Toshiba Camileo P30, it is a bit of a pipe dream, with low-light performance the main deal breaker. Although image quality in the best conditions is acceptable for the price, if you want a cheap camcorder to capture a few family moments, you would be better off avoiding the HD buzzword and sticking with a more dependable standard definition model. JVC’s Everio GZ-MS130 or MG330 will produce much more consistent results, even if they can’t boast the pixel resolution.

Corsair 256GB SSD Is Super Fast

Not to be outdone, Corsair has just announced their latest SSD offering, that’s sure to blow their earlier 2.5-inch 128GB model out of the water. This time around, it’s a 256GB SSD, but the storage space is really only part of the story. This SSD features an whopping 200MB/s read speed and a 170MB/s write speed. That’s a serious increase over their previous model, which offered up a 90MB/s read speed and a 70MB/s write speed. That’s over doubling the performance speed!

So, just how much will a SSD with such an impressive performance speed go for these days? Apparently, $749 is the asking price. Once your eyes settle back into their sockets, you can start saving your pennies.

Advent 5611 Review

Advent is PC World’s in-house brand, providing well-equipped, value-for-money laptops such as the Advent 5611. Crammed with features such as a 15.4-inch screen, an Intel GMA4500 GPU, HDMI output and an eSATA port. It’s also features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The Advent 5611 fared the worst in our benchmark tests even with a Core 2 Duo CPU. This wasn’t reflected in day-to-day performance, however, where we found it had solid performance for common tasks. It ran smoothly, and only slowed down when running several processor-intensive applications. Battery life failed to impress, however. At just over two hours, it severely limits the mobility of the 5611.

Dual SIM Samsung B5702 Officially Announced

Samsung B5702, the slider we first saw back in January, has been officially announced in Russia. Samsung presents the B5702 as a dual SIM phone for “all continents”, and that’s due to its quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), supported by both SIM cards. Too bad the handset is only an EDGE one, so it doesn’t have 3G.

LG 42LH5000 42In LCD TV Review

Typical. You wait decades for a 200Hz TV, and then along come two. A few months after we digested Sony’s groundbreaking 200Hz Z4500 LCD range, we now find ourselves faced with LG’s 200Hz-sporting 42LH5000. And intriguingly, if not entirely surprisingly, this LG offering is considerably cheaper - by at least £250 - than its 40in Sony rival. Bargain ahoy, perhaps.

It certainly looks like it costs more than a grand. It enjoys just about the glossiest, shiniest finish you’ll ever see (in a good rather than tacky way!), and has curves and eye-catching trim in all the right places. This trim even includes an infusion of indigo blue down the TV’s sides that adds distinction without becoming distracting.

RaidSonic Icy Box IB-NAS4220-B Review

Drive installation with the Raidsonic Icy Box NAS is straightforward. After removing four tiny screws from the base, the outer shell slides off to reveal the crudely cut inner case. Rubber grommets provide a decent amount of vibration dampening. There’s a fan slotted into the back of the enclosure and a moveable temperature sensor that needs to be near the drives. Then, with two drives connected, you can choose between a RAID 0, 1, NRAID and JBOD configuration and a variety of file systems.
