Radeon HD 4890 vs GeForce GTX 275

It’s been a while since we’ve seen ATI and Nvidia scrap it out with two comparably priced cards launching on the same day, but this month they’re right back at it. The Radeon HD 4890 is best seen as an overclocked 1GB Radeon HD 4870 – the architecture is the same and it’s still built using a 55nm process, but ATI has slightly stretched the design to widen the internal copper interconnects and put a crucial few more atoms of silicon between the transistors. The stretched design reduces transistor power leakage and strengthens signal integrity, which in turn allows the chip to run at higher frequencies.

Asus N50Vc - 15.4in Blu-ray Notebook Review

It's been a while since we had an 'ordinary' notebook from Asus through our labs. Everything we've looked at recently has either been a netbook like the Eee PC 1000HE or a premium ultra-portable along the lines of the Asus U6V - high time, then, to examine something a little more mainstream with the company's N50Vc. A 15.4in entertainment notebook, it has all the features you'd expect of a good multimedia-focused machine. That means plenty of memory and storage, discrete graphics and a Blu-ray drive all wrapped in a nice glossy chassis with a reasonable price tag slapped on the box.

Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 SLI: Cheaper And Faster Than GeForce GTX 285? Review

As we wrote in an earlier article, the Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 series is not something really new and innovative, yet is a good combination of technical characteristics and price. The model with 1024 megabytes of graphics memory and a full-featured G92b core has a recommended price of $149. The higher-class product GeForce GTX 285 comes at an official recommended price of $399 and its retail price even starts from $340 now.

We know that Nvidia’s single-chip flagship can successfully oppose the ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 as well as a CrossFireX tandem consisting of two ordinary Radeon HD 4850 cards. Considering that two GeForce GTS 250 1GB cards cost about $300, we wonder how good this pair would be in SLI mode. Theoretically, this configuration has a chance to beat the GeForce GTX 285 because it has more shader processors (256 against 240) and more texture processors (128 against 80). Additionally, the G92b chip can be clocked at higher frequencies than the G200b.

LG Incite Review

Using your fingers to control the on-screen action is the latest smartphone trend, but the LG Incite handset instead relies on a small stylus to get the job done. The device’s web browsing and contact book organization features leave something to be desired, however, its very reasonable introductory price and otherwise smooth performance make it worth considering nonetheless.

The LG Incte is a solid candy bar model a la the iPhone and similar handsets. The phone measures four and a half inches by two inches, is just a half-inch thick, and has a slick, shiny silver and black shell. Weight-wise, it clocks in at only a few ounces, but the phone has a certain mass and heft, perhaps because of its metallic design.

Samsung B7610 Louvre In The Wild

There is a brand new Samsung in town - the B7610 Louvre which has made an appearance at The Phone House (Dutch version of The Carphone Warehouse). Design-wise, it does share many similarities with the F700, boasting a similar form factor as well as sliding QWERTY keyboard in the equation. However, this smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, and apart from that, details concerning it is scarce - very. Speculation is rife that this will come with at least HSDPA connectivity and a 3.2 megapixel camera, alongside an expected July release for a yet unknown price point.

Archos 2 and Archos 4 flash players leak out

We haven't heard anything official, but images of an Archos 2 flash player have turned up in a few places on the web today, along with word of an Archos 4. The 2's already listed on Amazon -- it's not going to rock worlds, but it's not bad for $60, with 8GB of storage and microSD expansion, a 1.8-inch 128 x 160 display and a voice recorder all in a .35-inch thick package. There's also a 16GB version on Amazon.de for €68 ($92), but that hasn't yet made it to the US Amazon site. The Archos 4 is a little more mysterious -- all we really know about it is that it'll have a four-inch screen and 16 to 32GB of flash. We're guessing these'll pop soon, we'll let you know.

Super Talent Pico 16GB Review

As many of us know, computers, and their related hardware, have been getting smaller and smaller over the years. Peripherals and add-ons are no exception, of course. Laptop mice have become a niche all their own, desired for their small size and portability. So too, have the USB thumb drives. Leading the charge when it comes to miniaturizing is Super Talent, with their Pico line of USB drives. The Pico has been around for some time now, but the 16GB generation is a relative newcomer.

The Pico-C (the one being tested here today) is the smallest of the small drives. It has no cap, no sliding cover, just an eyelet at the end. Worried about damaging it? Don't. This thing is rugged, water-resistant and even feels solid. This is not some flimsy little plastic drive, it's metal and it's durable. Good thing it's tiny, lack of extra material goes a long way to keep the weight down.
