G.Skill’s Trident, Perfect Storm And, Err, Watch?

G.Skill has expanded its wordy product line lately, moving from the older Pi series to other DDR3 memory packages including the Perfect Storm series Core i7 kits which come with a dual 60mm air cooler (plus the obligatory blue LEDs), except the surface area of heatsinks underneath isn’t particularly great even if the fans fit quite nicely into the groves at the end. The latest Trident modules have better heatsinks but an even weirder fan mount that screws into the middle instead. With a 4-pin connector instead of 3-pin it’s a little strange.

Biostar Claims Core I5 Runs DDR3-1333

Biostar hit a few design wins for its P45 products, providing an excellent price-performance ratio with its superb Overclocking, and we can only hope the same is true with its next generation P55 products for Intel’s upcoming Core i5 CPUs. Biostar mentions in its descriptive blurb that the standard memory speed for Core i5 CPUs is 1,333MHz, but it supports 1,600 to 2,000MHz via OC functions (we assume are either Intel XMP or part of the BIOS). With twelve phase power (8+4) around CPU socket, dual channel DDR3, plenty of space around the CPU socket and a set of features to match the Gigabyte P55 product, Biostar has everything setup to directly compete.

HP Rolls Out Compaq Cq2000m Nettop For Europe

HP’s mini-Q nettop first turned up in Taiwan way back in November, but it looks to finally be making its way around the world, and it’s now shown itself in Europe in the form of the Compaq CQ2000M. There doesn’t appear to be any significant changes beyond the slight name change, however, with the nettop still packing the standard issue 1.6GHz Atom Z230 processor, 1GB of RAM (expandable to 2GB), a 160GB hard drive, Intel GMA950 graphics and, of particular note, a dual-layer DVD burner. Unfortunately, there’s also still no indication of a release on this side of the pond, but those in Europe can apparently grab one now bundled with a 20-inch monitor for €349, or about $440.

BenQ M2200HD - Full HD 22In Monitor Review

BenQ’s M2200HD Monitor is something different. It’s a white 21.5in LCD monitor, which in itself is a bit unusual, but it adds to this with multiple connectivity options, an included webcam and a Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. Better still, all this goodness can be yours for under £200. Admittedly taking the M2200HD out of its packaging evokes a sense of déjà-vu, since its chassis is exactly identical to the BenQ M2400HD reviewed a month ago. Unfortunately this means the M2200HD has the same build quality issues as its 24in cousin: though plastics feel solid enough, even the slightest adjustment leads to excessive creaking.
