Crossfire Vs. SLI

On every presentation of new GPU generation that we attended in past few years, systems with more than one graphics card were presented as ultimate performance setup. Problem with those configurations was their price in a real world environment. Even now there are more users that have only one graphics card in their rig but the times has changed and now even low-budget users can have Crossfire of SLI system thanks to price drops.
First of all, motherboards that support Crossfire or SLI are not too expensive anymore as they were a year ago. Secondly, graphics cards have become also cheaper so users now face a dilemma: if they already have a graphics card from mid or high-range class with motherboard that supports CrossFire/SLI, is it better to sell that one and buy new one, or to buy same graphics card and make CrossFire/SLI system? Also new users face same dilemma: when buying new configuration should you plan future upgrade that includes upgrade of existing graphics card or purchase of second graphics card when it becomes much cheaper?

HTC Dream - Of Androids And Electric Sheep Review

There has been a lot of talk about the HTC Dream. And we do mean quite a bit. Introduced as the T-Mobile G1 in the second half of 2008, the first Google Android phone did create quite a stir in geek circles. The delicious open-source Android platform kept budding and experienced developers busy and hard at work in delivering new applications to the Android Market. With so much riding on the freedom to download apps to enhance your user experience, it’s irrefutable that the stage is set for an app store war. Unlike the creamy white T-Mobile G1, what we got here in Singapore is the matte black version. This is fine by us, though we did inquire on the possible availability of the white version from SingTel. There has been no word yet on this, but we do think that having the color option could raise the consumer interest. We love the Dream’s 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen. Period. Generous on the screen real estate and friendly to the thumb, the Dream didn’t give us problems when we were navigating through its unfamiliar (at first) user interface.

Radeon HD 4890 X2 A Possibility

Based on conversations between ATI and PCGH, it seems that ATI might be thinking about a Radeon HD 4890 X2 to compete with the GTX 285. The Radeon HD 4890 is expected to be between 8%-20% faster than the 4870. This will leave the 4890 competing with the GTX 260 instead of the GTX 285 as predicted. As such, if ATI wants to compete with the fastest card on the market, it will have to implemnt the RV790 chip in a dual-GPU card.

Remixing The G92 - NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 Review

They say an elephant never forgets and a leopard never changes its spots. So it should come as no surprise then that NVIDIA, so fond of renaming, rehashing and rebranding their products, has gone back to its old ways. And we are disappointed. Before CeBIT, rumors were rife about a new NVIDIA SKU and many speculated that the graphics giant has finally managed to scale its high-end GTX 200 down a notch to create mainstream, entry-level variants of GTX 200 cards. On the other hand, there were also rumors that they were going to rehash one of the older SKUs so that, you know, it’ll appear to be new? Unfortunately, NVIDIA has once again decided to opt for the easy way out. The latter rumor proved to be true and the brand ‘new’ GeForce GTS 250 that you see here has a GeForce 9800 GTX+ GPU core at its heart. If you’ve already forgotten, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ was launched last year in June and it was itself a quick fix solution to ATI’s Radeon HD 4850. In fact, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ is a refresh of the even older GeForce 9800 GTX based on the G92 and only differs from the latter in that it is manufactured using a 55nm process and is therefore able to accommodate higher clock speeds.
