HTC Magic/G2: Vodafone To Ship Devices In April

HTC Magic, G2 is coming out in April as the website confirms. As I had said earlier, the device looks way better than its ancestor, the G1 and has the charm with its less bulky appearance. Although I am quite surprised why they would chose white for the device (any clues). It consists of the following features:

Clarion MiND : Review

The Clarion MiND (which I will herein capitalize as normal) is supposed to be a lot of things. It’s supposed to be a GPS, an internet tablet, a media player, and more… All stuffed into one sleek and portable package. It’s a brilliant idea, an idea that a lot of companies have been trying to make happen for a long time. So is this what the Clarion Mind is? A video explains it all, plus my review, after the jump.
Still not sure what the Mind actually is? Me neither. And I’ve had one for a while. The Mind calls itself a “mobile internet device,” which is a good enough term for it… Basically, it’s trying to be everything you might need in a computer, repackaged into a small, sexy little case that you can carry around with you.

Lenovo Ideapad Y650 Is Here- 16-Inches Of Goodness

My friends at Lenovo sent over a loaner IdeaPad Y650 notebook to have a look at and I’m sitting right now in Panera Bread giving it a first mobile run. The Y650 is very attractive, and thin and light for a 16-inch notebook.
The lid is a very subdued black that is “grippy,” not the fingerprint magnet that is all the rage these days. When opened, the notebook shows a glossy white finish with a full-sized keyboard, surrounded by volume buttons, a power button and JBL stereo speakers.

OCZ Reaper PC3-14400 6GB Memory Kit Review

It’s tricky to pigeonhole the OCZ Reaper PC3-14400 6GB Triple Channel memory kit that we’re reviewing this week as OCZ has such an enormous range of products. If we forget about DDR, DDR2, USB keys, laptop memory and mainstream DDR3 then we see that OCZ has no less than six distinct families of triple channel memory kits.
Blade sits at the top of the overclocking pile with the water cooled Flex EX just beneath. Intel Extreme use Extended Memory Profile (XMP) to make overclocking easier while the Platinum and Gold series look very similar to each other apart from the colour of the perforated heat shields on the memory chips.

Super Talent Luxio Series 64GB USB Flash Drive Review

I think it is a pretty safe bet that we have all come to love USB thumb drives. I still remember the first time someone handed me one at a LAN party. At that time they were in their infancy, kind of clunky like a 1960s car, a little slow but it sure beat the heck out of burning a driver on a CD to pass around.
Fast forward to present day and you can get small drives like the Super Talent Pico C that impressed us with its small size and go everywhere charm, the Kingston HyperX that is capable of maxing out your USB2.0 ports transfer limit and any number of odd shaped and themed products that are floating around. The thumb drive is here to stay and evolution of the product line will continue to drive us to faster speeds and more capacity.

Acer Aspire One D150 Hands-On

Acer’s N280-powered Aspire One D150 has already been reviewed, but considering that we’ve yet to have the pleasure of meeting, we took that very opportunity today while parked at the company’s CeBIT booth. A trio of colors were around for demoing, so we walked our camera around to tag all three. You know the critics think this machine’s a-okay, but does it live up to your demanding style standards? Pop down to the gallery below to decide.

Asus P6T6 WS Revolution Core i7 Motherboard Review

When we think about what is perhaps the one draw-back that enthusiasts and gamers could point to with respect to an Intel chipset-based motherboard, historically, it was lack of NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU support. Though you could drop more than one AMD ATI Radeon-based graphics card into a P45, X38 or X48-chipset based motherboard, for the most part, SLI was a no-go, save perhaps for a few custom OEM solutions. This wasn’t too much of a problem for gaming purists that wanted in on NVIDIA powered multi-GPU action, since there was always the most recent revision of the nForce chipset in support of Intel’s platform architecture; that is of course until the launch of Intel’s Core i7 platform.
Intel’s fledgling new desktop platform offers several new architectural advancements, in addition to native support for NVIDAI SLI technology. Though motherboard manufacturers like Asus need to have their board “certified” and enable SLI via hooks in their BIOS firmware, you can in fact now have your cake and eat it too, so to speak. Curiously, we have yet to hear from NVIDIA regarding an upcoming nForce motherboard chipset platform in support of Core i7 and from the sound of the recent banter between the two companies, we probably never will. Though, in this industry, never is a very long time. It will be interesting to see how the landscape shakes out for all parties involved.

ATI Launches Two 40nm Mobile Gpus

ATi managed to one up nVidia this week with the launch of two 40nm notebook GPUs.
While nV is touting a refresh of the aging 55nm G92, ATi is putting 40nm new technology into play.
The two new parts are the mobility 4860 and the mobility 4830. While these two mobile GPUs are not the top of the line they do represent a forward moving company.
According to ATi’s documentation on the two the 40nm 4860 should be around 8% faster than the current mobility 4850s while the 4830 will only run slightly behind.
The 4860 will feature 1GB of GDDR5 (from Qimonda of all places) and feature 640 Stream Processors. The 4830 will be able to run shared or dedicated memory (1GB GDDR3) and will also have 640 Stream Processors.
