Rumour Radeon Hd 4890 Coming In April

In a bid to take on the threat from Nvidia’s new GeForce GTX 285, the rumour mill reports that AMD is planning to release a new single-GPU graphics card in April called the Radeon HD 4890.
Tech gossip site VR-Zone claims to have spoken to a source with a sample of the GPU, who says that it will be based on the RV790 core, and will feature a core clock speed of 850MHz and a GDDR5 memory clock speed of 975MHz (3.9GHz effective).
The site also reports that two versions of the GPU will be released as standard – a standard edition and an overclocked edition. The former is apparently due to be released in mid April, with the latter arriving in a future month.

Kingston HyperX T1 3GB & 6GB 2000MHz DDR3 Memory Review

In November, Nate showed us what we could expect in the way of memory speeds to come from low voltage DDR3 with Kingston’s 2000MHz Triple Channel memory kit. Paired with a Core i7 965 processor and ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard, that kit ripped through all of our testing and overclocked up to 2113MHz!
Today, we have a similar kit from Kingston but with a new line of heat spreaders. Officially named HyperX T1, they use aluminum extrusions with extended fins. With this new HTX (HyperX Thermal Xchange) technology, you can be sure that even when you are pushing this memory to the limits it will remain nice and cool.

Mobile World Congress 2009 - Showfloor Coverage Part 2 Review

Prior to the W995’s launch, Sony Ericsson launched the C901, C903 and the W395 handsets. The question that’s naturally raised is: why have small launches of these products, instead of unveiling them at MWC? Well, we can safely assume that it was because they did not want their high-end handset to get lost in the pack with the other less-worthy cousins. Sort of like how the Xperia X1 took the spotlight at last year’s MWC.
Very little word has come out from the Taiwanese smart phone giant camp in the build up towards MWC. But what they released that generated the most interest is of course the HTC Touch Diamond 2! Known for their stylish handsets and collaborations with fashion house Prada, the Korean chaebol launched its new flagship mobile phone for 2009 entitled the LG Arena (KM900). So what separates this handset from the rest of the other touch screen devices out there in the current market? Well, it’s all about the user interface. Make that the 3D S-Class user interface.

Mobile World Congress 2009 - Showfloor Coverage Part 1 Review

Always wanted to throw your thousand dollar handset off the wall after having a heated phone argument with the spouse? Well, now you can with the i-mate 810-F handset. The 810-F has been designed to meet the rigors of the most extreme environments. Essentially, it can be stamped on, dropped in water and even thrashed under a car wheel, and it promises to survive with nary a dent. To top it all off, it comes with a lifetime warranty (Terms & Conditions Apply, but of course). Its long specs list also has enough goods to meet the needs of most users - the list includes 2.2GB worth of internal storage, 128MB DDR memory, a 624MHz PXA processor, 2MP camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and more.
If Batman and Robin were a force to be reckoned with, then the latest partnership between Garmin and Asus should be putting some fear into the hearts of other manufacturers. The Kings of the Eee PC and the Kings of the GPS have joined forces in a bid to churn out GPS-enabled handsets. First, we saw the birth of the nuvifone. Now, just a few weeks into the relationship, the twin terrors have released yet another handset, this time it is based on Windows Mobile operating system and it’s called the M20. I shudder to think what would happen if the company had a few months on their hands.

Mobile World Congress 2009 - Showcase Nokia Updated Review

If you want something lighter and more compact, let us highlight the Nokia E55. The biggest draw of this compact device is a high capacity 1500mAh battery. Not too shabby for a device measuring 116 x 49 x 9.9mm and weighing only 98 grams. By far, the E55 will be one of the slimmest and lightest devices in the E-series lineup, and it doesn’t cut back on the features either. Like the E75, the new E55 is compatible with the suite of Ovi services and is equipped with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen too. What sets this device apart is the compact QWERTY keyboard. And by that, we mean really compact, since it’s a 16-button keypad.
The mystery is finally solved. With a wide range of devices from its E-series, to its Navigator and Classic series revealed at Showcase Nokia, some might be wondering upon the absence of the popular N-series in this year’s Showcase Nokia. The truth is, there is one announced. With an estimated Q2 launch in 2009, you’ll be able to check out the first 8-megapixel camera phone from Nokia, the Nokia N86. Granted, the 8-megapixel race has been ongoing for quite a well, and there has been announcements of a 12.1-megapixel camera phone over at Barcelona, but hey, better late than never.

Samsung X460 Notebook Review

Following the staggering amount of publicity Apple’s super-skinny MacBook Air received, with Mac fanatics waxing lyrical about how you can stick it in an envelope and risk accidentally posting it, South Korean manufacturer Samsung decided it could do better with the X360 and X460.
We’ve finally got our hands on the 14.1-inch X460, a hero product that has something of a squashed laptop look about it. With the front of this machine measuring around 20mm, and a weight of just under 1.9kg, it’s the most portable 14.1-inch system we’ve seen so far, although the rear of the chassis does get considerably thicker to house the battery.

Intel X58 SLI BIOS Support Vs. nVidia Hardware SLI Chip - Fight!

A lot of PC enthusiasts have been following motherboards equipped with Intel’s latest chipset: The X58. We all knew it would offer native ATI Crossfire support but there was much speculation on whether the chipset would or could natively support SLI with nVidia video cards. At nVision 08, nVidia announced that BIOS support would happen for the X58 via a certification program that would embed a “cookie” into the BIOS to unlock the SLI capability. It would also be followed by the hoopla about a certification program. It’s been a few months, but still no hoopla.
While the BIOS support was being worked on, nVidia continued offering their nForce SLI chip to any vendor who saw fit to grace their X58 based board with SLI support. Their line would be, of course, that it would offer better performance, thus a lot of boards with the nForce bridge cost a premium.
