Eurocom Preparing Core i7-Powered Laptop

Intel's Core i7 helped strengthen the company's foothold over the desktop CPU market beyond what it already had with the Core 2 series. The level of performance the Core i7 has on offer, comes at an expense of high thermal characteristics, with the rated TDP of 130W to begin with. Eurocom feels it could design a laptop, a portable workstation rather, that features Core i7 series processors. It could be one of the first to do so, with the Phantom i7 D900F.
Holding Core i7 processors in their existing series: models 920, 940, 965 XE, the Phantom i7 holds a 17-inch display with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 or 1680 x 1050. It features up to 8GB of DDR3 memory and up to 1.5TB of storage using three 500GB hard drives.

Sony Ericsson - W595 Review

Sony Ericsson doesn't always get the design of its mobiles right. Most significantly, buttons can be too small and fiddly for the average finger to get to grips with. And then there is the ridiculous shake control system where you waggle the phone left and right to move between tracks, up and down to change volume. Bizarre.
Shake control is here, though you can easily ignore it as you have to hold a side button down to use it. But the hardware design is, for our money, immaculate.
This HSDPA handset is a slider. The fascia has a rubbery texture that assists with grip and the slide mechanism is smooth, making this feel like a more expensive handset than it actually is.

Linksys Wireless Home Audio System

Sonos, watch your back. Last year, Logitech released the Squeezebox Boom, one of the best media streamers we’ve tested for Multiroom music at a low overall cost with built-in speakers. Now, Linksys (er, “Linksys by Cisco” – a name-change only a marketer could love) has jumped into the pit. With the package price the same as the Sonos, and features that are remarkably similar, the Linksys Multiroom Home Audio System is easy to setup and use, performs well over 802.11n, and has a subtle, compact design that fits well in either an upscale Seattle apartment or a suburban bedroom. It’s a functional and well-designed product, but perhaps a little too geeky for some music fans.

Kensington ComboSaver Combination Notebook Lock Ultra

Notebooks have always been easy to pinch: their practicality is also their downfall. Kensington have been securing notebooks for many years, being the name in notebook security. Most notebooks features a Kensington lock slot, and many other devices such as monitors and TVs are now incorporating them too. But can this ComboSaver really keep your possessions secure?
ComboSaver, as the name suggests, features a combination lock, but is otherwise a similar configuration to other notebook locks, featuring a plastic coated cable with a loop at one end and the lock on the other. To secure your notebook, you simply loop the cable around a secure anchor point, pass the lock end through the loop and then attach it to your PC, secured via a twist and pushing in the button on the end.

From A Gigabyte To A Terabyte - 10 Years Of Storage Development Reviewed

Over 50 years ago, IBM developed a hard disk that was the size of several wardrobes and had a capacity of only five megabytes. This was the very first hard disk. Today, hard disks the size of standard paperbacks with capacities of one terabyte (1,000,000 megabytes) or more are nothing out of the ordinary.
In the last 10 years, we have seen formats come and go in the storage scene, but if there is anything that is consistent, it is this: capacities increase, and form factors shrink. Here is an example to prove our point. 10 years ago, 5.25" hard disk drives breached the one gigabyte mark. Last year, Seagate announced a 3.5" hard disk with 1.5 terabytes capacity.

EVGA X58 SLI Reviewed

If there's one technology that impressed me the most this year, it has to be Intel's Core i7 release. To this date I am still stunned by it's performance. It's so good that starting from Q1 2009, all test systems in the Guru3D lab will be Core i7 based until something better comes along. I'm that excited about the technology!
What's a little less exciting is that Intel only has one chipset available for for the Core i7 series processors, making the upgrade pretty expensive. However, this is an enthusiast user product. Targeted at the same enthusiast user that would purchase say a nForce 790 Ultra SLI and QX9770 processor.
