Dell Studio XPS Desktop PC Review

After the success of Dell’s Studio laptop line it was inevitable desktop counterparts would follow and they’ve done so in style. Not only has the company introduced slimline Core 2-based desktops, but its Studio XPS range also offers Intel’s new Core i7 platform (codenamed Nehalem) in a compact case and at a reasonably compact price, too.

Asus M4A79 Deluxe Review

The Asus M4A79 Deluxe is the first Socket AM2+ motherboard we’ve seen that is intended to accommodate both existing Socket AM2+ and upcoming Socket AM3 Phenom processors.
You see, Socket AM2+ Athlon X2 and Phenom processors have 940 pins and their integrated memory controllers can support up to DDR2-1066MHz RAM. Meanwhile, the the new Socket AM3 CPUs use 938 pins and are pin-compatible (i.e. they fit) with AM2+ sockets. They also have memory controllers that support both DDR2-1066MHz and DDR3-1333MHz system memory. The result is you should, in theory, be able to use the new AM3 CPUs in existing AM2+ motherboards, just with the limitation that you’ll only be able to use the DDR2 memory that these older motherboards support. Oh, and you’ll almost certianly need to update your motherboard’s BIOS.

Comment : Digging Into Intel’s Latest CPU Price Cuts

Intel price cuts, whilst impressive, do not mean much especially if you are planning to build a system rather than upgrade an existing computer system. The semiconductor company has not cut the price of its higher priced, more expensive Core i7 processors, a clear hint that it is not considering the new AMD Phenom processors as being a serious threat. No price cuts have been applied to Core 2 Duo processors except the E7400 whose price cuts EOLs the E7300 and E7200 CPUs. Similarly, the drop in price for the E5200 means that the E2220, E2200 and E2180 will soon be obsolete.

NZXT Avatar Mouse Review

Let me therefore make another addition in change to that approach today, a mouse for gamers. And after saying that, this is immediately where I realize why we hardly review keyboards and mouse’s etc .. I mean, good gawd .. it’s just the most subjective thing to do. What do you guys look for in a peripheral like a mouse ? Does it need to be programmable, weight perhaps, ergonomics, functionality, price, material usage. left/right handed .. or are the aesthetics more important to you ? See, each and every one of you has his or her own preference so really .. testing a mouse is subjective as hell.

Inbi-Out GPS Coin

Are you one of those indecisive types on the road? Do you tend to swerve at a Y-junction at the very last minute just because you’re not sure of which lane to take, much to the frustration of the vehicle behind you? Perhaps you would benefit greatly from the Inbi-Out GPS coin, if it ever materializes that is. The Inbi-Out coin supposedly gives you a 50/50 chance on virtually everything - where you should go, eat, drink, hang out, pick up chicks, letting you see the final decision on its small embedded display alongside the target destination’s GPS co-ordinates and directions. In addition, the Inbi-Out is able to record all of your destinations into a databank for future reference. This is one concept we won’t see happening anytime soon.
