LG, Chunghwa Picture Tubes Execs To Serve Jail Time For Lcd Price Fixing Conspiracy

LG and Chunghwa Picture Tubes already confessed to being involved in a scandalous LCD price fixing conspiracy, and now the US Department of Justice is laying down the hammer on four of the dirty-handed executives. Chang Suk Chung (LG), Chieng-Hon “Frank” Lin (Chunghwa), Chih-Chun “C.C.” Liu (Chunghwa) and Hsueh-Lung “Brian” Lee (Chunghwa) have all entered plea agreements which will see them serving a “term of imprisonment” as well as paying a criminal fine and assisting the US government in its ongoing TFT-LCD investigation.

Hyundai wants 5% of the mobile market

Hyundai is close to finalising a deal with UK mobile telecommunications company Advantage Cellular to start selling mobile phones in Great Britain.
Not known for being overly ambitious, Hyundai believes it can unveil the kind of devices that will get the Great British public salivating to the tune of three to five per cent of the mobile phone market.Mobile World Congress is going to be a big event for the company, which plans to release 10 to 15 handsets this year, according to Mobile Today.

XFX Loads 1.5 GB Of Memory Onto Special GeForce 9600 GSO

XFX released a special FarCry 2 themed graphics card based on the GeForce 9600 GSO graphics processor. The bundle includes a copy of the popular first-person-shooter title, FarCry 2. Its specifications are spiced-up by its memory: 1.5 GB. The memory however is DDR2 and is clocked at 800 MHz, with a bus width of 192-bits. This G92-based graphics card features 96 shader units clocked at 1,450 MHz, with the core running at 580 MHz. It sports a distinct XFX design with black-coloured PCB and single-slot cooling.

Sony Bumps PSP Firmware To 5.03

PlayStation Blog has confirmed that a new a firmware (v5.03) for PSP will be available for download soon. The blog post again does not mention what are the changes except that it “improves system software stability during use of some features.” I guess we’ll have to wait for the firmware to be live before we exactly know what it does.

Amd Quietly Launches The 760g Chipset

AMD quietly launched a “value” version of its high-end 790G chipset. The new lower-end model will sell under the title of 760G and is intended to offer more value than Intel according to AMD.
The new chipset will feature Radeon 3000 graphics, RAID, and Hybrid Crossfire when teamed u
p with the Radeon 3450.
Although AMD is touting this as a Multi-Media board many manufacturers are not planning to include HDMI or DisplayPort. Additionally there will not be any HD hardware acceleration. This will limit its use in many people’s eyes.

Intel Cuts Prices, Introduces New 65w Quad-Core Models

As expected, Intel has announced it is slashing prices on a range of desktop processors and has introduced several new Core 2 Quad CPUs with a 65W TDP. While cuts were mostly concentrated on quad-core chips, lower end processors received some of the largest reductions, such as the mobile Celeron 570 which has been reduced by a significant 48 percent.
The 95W 2.33GHz, 2.5GHz, 2.66GHz, 2.83GHz and 3GHz Core 2 Quads all drop at least 16 percent (and up to 40 percent) to $163, $183, $213, $266 and $316 respectively. Core 2 Duos include a 2.8GHz version dropped to $113, while server-oriented Xeon X3000 chips drop to as little as $224 for a 2.66GHz quad-core part to $316 for a 3GHz version.

AMD 3.1GHz Phenom II X4 950 CPU Coming Q2 2009?

AMD could be preparing a new 3.1GHz Phenom II processor, for launch in Q2 2009, in the shape of the Phenom II X4 950. The chip, which is mentioned on a slide purportedly leaked from AMD themselves, has 8MB of total cache (which The Tech Report suggests could be split as 6MB of L3 and 512KB of L2 per core) together with a 125W thermal envelope, support for DDR3 1333MHz memory, and a 4GHz HyperTransport interface speed.
