Amd Hd 4000 Mobility Video Cards Unveiled At Ces

I was at CES last week schlepping around the halls looking for something cool. Unfortunately cool was in short supply at this year’s show. One of the things that I did find interesting was the new mobile GPUs that AMD was showing off.
AMD introduced its line of Radeon Mobility 4000 video cards for notebooks that includes the HD 4800, HD 4600, HD 4500 and HD 4300 GPUs. The HD 4800 is the first mobile GPU according to AMD to break the teraflop barrier.
The higher-end GPUs like the HD 4800 support Crossfire as well. If you follow AMD or graphics cards in general, what you need to know is that the new HD 4000 series mobile GPUs offer all of the features that were limited to desktop GPUs before. The HD 4800 even uses GDDR5 RAM. We should see some seriously high performance gaming notebooks using these GPUs soon.

13.3 and 11.6-inch HP Mini-Notes Rumored For Spring

Digitimes is reporting that HP is going to add more Mini-notes to its popular line of netbooks: a 10.1, an 11.6, and a 13.3-inch. The 10.1-inch model –slated for February — will sport a screen with 16:9 aspect ratio and sell for a little under $600. The second quarter will bring the two larger models, the 13.3-inch being touted as “low-cost”. Even with these larger sizes, the netbooks will still be Mini-notes, possibly because they’re all supposed to have Intel Atom Zxx series inside.

HP MediaSmart EX487 Review

Fresh off a momentous victory at Macworld, HP has started 2009 on a positive note. The company has a full line of new netbooks, larger Touchsmart all-in-one desktops, the TX2 notebook with touch control, and plenty of peripherals and gadgets to keep us busy here at Digital Trends. (They seem to have dropped out of the smartphone market, however.) The MediaSmart EX487, a server for home use that works just as well for small businesses, won the best-of-show award at Macworld, even though it runs a Windows OS product. As a second-generation update, the server is an ideal companion on the road to digital nirvana. It’s fast, has plenty of expansion options, is easy to configure, and runs reliably.

Ces 2009 - Prototype Demo

While at CES me and the girls were able to get an exclusive demo of Activision’s newest game Prototype. This open-world game is set in Manhattan, NY and you play as Alex Mercer who just woke up on an experimenting table and has no memory of his past or who he is. You begin to discover you have powers that seem to grow and morph as you play through the game. Prototype also has a bit of an RPG aspect to it as you can tailor your growing powers to the way you want to play the game.

Sapphire Equipped HD 4670 With GDDR4 Memories

SAPPHIRE Technology, the leading manufacturer and worldwide supplier of AMD/ATI based graphics solutions is now shipping a new version of the SAPPHIRE HD 4670 equipped with GDDR4 memory – bringing new levels of performance to enthusiasts on a budget.
The new SAPPHIRE HD 4670 GDDR4 has been production engineered by SAPPHIRE to bring new levels of performance to the mainstream previously associated only with high end cards. With its 320 stream processors and carrying 512MB of GDDR4 memory the SAPPHIRE HD 4670 GDDR4 is now the best product in its class. Clock speeds are 750MHz for the core and 1100MHz (2.2GHz effective) for the memory making this the fastest HD 4670 card available. The card is cooled by a new large diameter fan based cooler which keeps noise levels to the minimum (<20dBA).

Nvidia Rethinking Graphics Cards

nVidia is going back to its roots; at least according to Fudzilla they are.
The green team is going to try and simplify the way their cards are built. This means cleaner PCBs single phase power regulation and fewer components on the card.
This means the cards will be less expensive to build, run cooler (and use less power too), and still will be able to maintain performance. This new direction comes after many years of simple refreshes and renaming. Maybe we can expect great things from nVidia in the not too distant future.

Galaxy Have A Non-Reference 55nm Gtx260+ Coming

NVIDIA partner GALAXY has sent us some information relating to a special GTX260+ graphics card they’re working on which the company claims will be the first non-reference 55nm GTX260 card to hit the market.
The core clockspeed is pumped up to 625MHz and the 896MB of Samsung GDDR3 memory bumped to 2100MHz, whilst the shaders operate at 1350MHz. It looks like they haven’t finished their heatsink/fan design for this specific model yet and it will be interesting to see what they do with the card in this regard.

GeForce GTX 285 review | 3-way SLI

As much as Intel has a Tick-Tock (one year new architecture - following year refresh architecture) design strategy, so does pretty much any chipset manufacturer on this globe. So when NVIDIA released their series GTX 200 products in the summer of last year, it was no surprise to see a spin-off product anytime soon. For NVIDIA this probably is a much welcomed respin product, as the GTX 200 series was based on a 65nm fabrication process. Since the GTX200 series are among the most powerful GPU on this planet, it made the GPU big with an astounding 1.4 billion transistors. Monolithic, was the stigma that got attached to the design.

Exclusive look at Cooler Master’s V10 Heatsink Review

Cooler Master is making some bold products for 2009. It started off with the Black Label that we reviewed just yesterday and is now spreading to the company’s CPU cooler products. If you thought the V8 was extreme, just wait till you see the V10. In all fairness the V10 should really be called the W16, or at least the V12; the gap between the V8 and V10 is very far apart. Think Mustang compared to a supped up Venom Viper.

Inno3D GeForce GTX 285 Overclock Graphics Card Review

Having just had a look at the GTX 285 from GIGABYTE which strictly follows the reference design, it’s nice to see a company at launch offer a card that doesn’t carry the stock clocks. While there is nothing wrong with reference clocks and the speeds the GTX 285 puts out in its stock form, there’s no denying that we want more power if we can get it.
