ASUS Lamborghini VX5 Hands-On And Video

Yesterday, Joanna Stern brought you news of the ASUS Lamborghini VX5, the 16.9-inch addition to the company’s premium line (inspired by the luxury card brand, of course). In addition to good looks, this widescreen notebook packs quad-core processors, dual storage with combined capacity as large as 1TB, WiMax capability, and an ambient light sensor, which dims or brightens the display based on the surrounding light.

Well, last night, Joanna and I found ourselves wandering around the quiet show floor (this was the day before the show officially opened), and found the ASUS booth delightfully empty. So, we did what any self-respecting tech journalists would do: we crammed in some guerrilla video-shooting and photo-snapping. Unfortunately, the VX5 we found wasn’t a working unit, but we were able to ogle the design up close. (Be sure to check out Joanna’s post on the Eee PC 1000HAE as well.)

NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 295 In Quad SLI Reviewed

This article was exciting to do for two reasons; the first was of course the fact that we were going to just see how powerful two of the fastest graphics cards on the market would perform when put together. This in total gave us four GPUs to play with across two cards and what this results in is a bucket load of power.

Gainward’s GeForce GTX 295 Reviewed

The GTX 295, where do we start? - I have to say this is one card that I find myself getting quite excited about. The main reason for that is because I know it’s going to be the fastest graphics card on the market. How do I know this, though? It’s not actually because we know what the specifications of the card are or anything like that. The reason I know it’s going to be the fastest graphics card on the market is because it literally has to be!

Acer Aspire 6935G Review

When Acer first introduced its Gemstone Blue range of notebooks early in 2008, most people were immediately taken by the dark-blue-fading-to-black glossy lid, and it was only when the lid was opened that there were groans of disappointment as someone, somewhere in Acer thought that having light grey wrist pads would set everything off nicely.

Thankfully the latest refresh of the range to include Intel’s Centrino 2 technology has also replaced the light grey with a much more stylish dark metallic grey.

Currently there are six models in the Aspire 6935G line-up. Our review model, the 844G32Bn, sits just below the flagship 944G32Bn model in the range and is a well equipped, stylish, desktop replacement notebook with a 16-inch screen.

Microsoft Starting Windows 7 Upgrade Program On July 1st

So long Vista, we hardly knew ye. According to Techarp, Microsoft will be working with PC makers to offer a cheap and easy upgrade path for people who buy Vista machines after July 1st.

A similar program was initiated just before the transition from XP to Vista to prevent a slowdown in sales, so it looks like the mid-2009 target for WIndows 7 is still on track.
