Chinese developer TongFong opted in its S30A ultraportable to go with an uncommon VIA processor instead of the ubuitous Intel Atom CPU found in most small laptops. The VIA CPU is clocked at 1.3 GHz — a bit lower than the 1.6 GHz Intels that seem to be in everything these days, but it should do well enough for very basic web browsing and e-mail.
This laptop also has two gigabytes of RAM, discrete graphics, and even an HDMI port in addition to a VGA port, so it looks a bit more like an ultraportable than a netbook apart from the very slow processor. That’s not a huge surprise, since it has a 13.3-inch screen, making it a tad bigger than a netbook. It even has a DVD burner! We like to count our blessings here at Obsessable, you know.
