Gaming PCs are usually the most powerful, most power-hungry, least efficient computers money can buy, so we were intrigued to hear Maingear Computers claim to have the world’s greenest gaming PC. What would make one of those behemoths green? Turns out, the new Maingear Pulse does have some intriguing features, though satisfying two diametrically opposed concepts (ultra low power, ultra high performance) may prove a challenge.
The Pulse, a small form factor PC based on NVIDIA ION graphics, can be upgraded with a a GeForce 9800 GT ECO discrete graphics card that consumes 40% less power than a standard GeForce 9800 GT–it’s available in both 512MB and 1GB configurations.
