Good news for anyone stuck with a 1.8” HDD in their laptop, like me with my Vaio G2 (My ASUS R1F is dead)… The folks at PhotoFast in Taiwan are offering their G-Monster in 1.8” size IDE with capacities ranging from 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
Specs are not as impressive as the PCI version, but expect a reading speed of 85MB/s and 50MB/s writing speed. Unfortunately as for today we don't have a price for you, and it like it won't be available in Japan before the end of the month.
PhotoFast has always been developing products from consumer’s point of view, considering a 128GB would be at least enough spaces for OS, applications and MP3s when building up a Laptop system. Especially developed for IBM laptop X40/X41, this is going to be a whole new savior to bring those back to life.
