With Intel, the world's largest vendor of computer processors, having received a heavy slap in the face from the EU Commission, Round Rock, Texas-based Dell is said to be planning the unveiling of a new server system that will be powered by a rather interesting choice of VIA Nano processors. The move is expected to provide VIA with a new and considerable market segment, especially considering that Nano processors have been developed and marketed for low-power, low-cost systems that provide the basics in home computing.
According to a recent report by the New York Times, the Round Rock, Texas-based Dell will announce later this week the launch of a new system, targeted at companies that require a solution for web-hosting applications. The innovation with the new system is that it will pack 12 full servers powered by VIA Nano chips, inside a 3.5-inch case.
