Epson has entered into the world of surface computing with the X-Desk. The X-Desk is a 52″ screen that can recognize 16,000 objects simultaneously. Hit the jump for a video of it in action.
The X-Desk uses “Smart Tags” to recognize the objects and the gesture recognition allows for unique object manipulation. We’ve seen lots of do it yourself Surface-imitations, and the X-Desk is already set to compete against Microsoft’s unreleased toy. With so many DIY’s out there, one wonders why Microsoft doesn’t release the software already.
